News broke today that One Ton a famous ‘Super Tusker’ died of natural causes.

It’s a shame to loose such an animal from the landscape. But it’s also a shame to think about how much the government could have made for conservation if someone was allowed to hunt him, instead of allowing him to starve to death…

.

'Peaceful death from natural causes'

That's nice.

(ps in case anyone is wondering this is written with a huge dose of sarcasm)

That’s the 2nd one Kenya has lost in the last 6 months. Craig died earlier this year as well.

Can you imagine the bad publicity hunting would get and the amount of backlash the actual person who killed One Ton would get! No thank you!

It all depends on the circumstances; if the elephant was seriously ill and just dragging himself across the terrain, that’s one thing; otherwise an animal too should be allowed to die a natural death; it does not always have to be hunted, and maybe suffer, just before it dies.

the photo of the dead elephant on the ground did not look like the same tusk configuration as the photo of the live bull that was walking around. the live bull had a broken right tusk and the one on the ground did not appear to be broken 1/2 way down like the live bull. am i missing something?

I'm sure there is someone that would pay a lot of money for those tusks, then put it back into conservation.....but instead they'll just pull them and put them in a warehouse.

I’m wondering what the press would say if a famous human died of “natural causes” by starvation. Horrible way to go. Good he was allowed to live to his full potential but not having teeth left is a certain death sentence.

Yup humanitarian let him starve to death -

just take a minute a look a bit more carefully - breakage on right tusk is on the backside and doesn't look quite the same from that angle

Got to love the irony. Hunting is cruel. Animal dies almost instantly

Nature is kind.. starves to death over a week or gets chewed on by animals.

I’m OK with a few elephants dying of old age. It’s better than in areas of gross mismanagement where they destroy the habitat and they all starve to death.

yes, i would sooner be shot to death than starve to death.
