Lyon, Ky. — The National Wild Turkey Federation has certified the largest turkey killed on record.
The gobbler, 37.6 pounds, was shot with a firearm by David Guess of Lyon County, Kentucky, on April 21.

According to published reports, Guess said he’s been tagging along on hunts since he was 3 years old and started hunting gobblers at the age of 5.
Guess’ gobbler had 1 1/4-inch spurs and a 9 3/4-inch beard. Guess shot the bird on his family’s farm in Kentucky.
