London gunmaker John Rigby & Co. is pleased to announce that award-winning wildlife artist Justin Prigmore will be working live on the Rigby stand at the Safari Club International (SCI) Convention (Wednesday 18 to Saturday 21 February, booth #1507).
Based in the Cairngorms of Scotland, Prigmore has earned international recognition for his dramatic oil paintings portraying the wildlife and landscapes of Scotland, Africa and North America. As a Rigby artist, his work reflects a deep appreciation for the natural world and the enduring traditions of hunting and exploration that define both his art and Rigby’s heritage.
Visitors to the Rigby stand will have the opportunity to meet Prigmore and watch him at work, as he plans to paint live throughout both shows, offering insight into his creative process and the evolution of a wildlife painting as it fills a canvas.
The exhibitions will feature five new original works alongside a selection of prints. Among them is a composition of three cheetahs, Scanning the Plains,originally started during last year’s DSC show and a piece that holds particular significance, having even seen Rigby Managing Director Marc Newton briefly take up the brush during the 2025 event. Also on display will be a striking zebra painting, Following the Seasons, depicting zebra during migration in the northern Serengeti.
Further works include a large-scale elephant scene Moving through Tarangire, inspired by Tarangire National Park, a powerful portrait of a male lion poised on a kopje, Kopje King, and a monumental 60-inch buffalo painting titled Danger in the Long Grass, which reflects the raw intensity and presence of one of Africa’s most formidable animals.
Together, these new pieces demonstrate Prigmore’s ability to combine atmosphere, narrative and technical precision, immersing viewers in the drama of wild places.
“This year’s collection is based on my experience earlier this year in Tanzania,” shares Justin “Being in East Africa to follow the wildebeest migration and all the interactions between species is such a spectacle and I was privileged to share this with my two daughters for the first time. I’m excited to share these new paintings at these incredible events on the Rigby stand.”
Visitors to the shows are invited to stop by the Rigby stand at both conventions to view the artwork, meet the Justin and follow the progress of his live paintings throughout the shows.
