I think I know the answer but who knows.
I think hunting birds is still allowed from what I've seen.If Kenya ever does have even a limited re-opening for birds
No hope in my opinion, unless drastic political change happens.I think I know the answer but who knows.
Yes that was the word, first closed Elephant hunting in 1973 then as still too many PH - Trackers & clients in the Poaching fields closed all hunting in 76-77 & then it really got bad for the animals !That’s not why hunting stopped in 1977. Research the wife and daughter of the President. Hunting was ended so the outfitters and PHs wouldn’t witness the ivory poaching that was supported by the government. The daughter was the Mayor of Nairobi and ran a business that was granted ivory exports even after the ivory trade ban was supposedly put in place.

I have faith. Especially when I know people like you and many others are passionately involved in organisations like SCI. Its the reason why I joined a few years ago.Kenya is run by many anti Hunting NGO's now. They have a lot of power and it will be very unlikely that hunting will return.
Yup...happening allover the place....here population set to double by I think 2050....government pushing mining big time....and we know how good they are at keeping control of the mining companies especially chinese...Kenya is lost, won't come back; I'm a bit worried about TZ for similar reasons; TZ government, Chinese "Belts & Roads", NGO's and other deep pockets and of course expanding population and the land fragmentation that goes along with it/
.but all of them get away with serious shit....so a lot of what is still virgin bush here will be cleared, and then mines aren't exactly environmentally friendly....and also you will have big influxes of people to work in them....any time a crap road here is tarred soon there are people moving in and clearing the bush and setting up farms....charcoal appears for sale in bigger and bigger amounts as time goes on.....the amount of mining licenses issued in this country is unbelievable...and they include for ecologically sensitive areas....illegal mining is widespread including in Nat parks and gmas....they get evicted and straight back in a few days..... driving around a big majority of this country you won't see wildlife....still animals in some of the wilder less developed regions...but unfortunately one of those is where a lot of copper etc is and has been found...mines are in process of being opened there....I have faith. Angola looked lost forever and what I've read hunting , albeit on a small scale, has returned.
So if people are not members of the likes of SCI, DSC etc. Join because money talks and good things are done by good people.

I would be so interesting to read a systematic and empirical comparison of Kenya & Tanzania's wildlife since 1977. Very similar countries with very similar histories that made different decisions about hunting which resulted in very different outcomes.
