Thought I'd share a fact about South Africa that I have yet to see an article on. There is a PH at Limcroma (Franco) that made us aware of this up and coming sport. IMPALA POOP SPITTING. It's a real thing...can't remember what they call it in Africans. Anyway.....it is a contest to see who can spit a pellet of impala poop the furthest. South Africans know this "sport" and generally are quite good at it.
A couple of things that may or may not help. Find a pile of impala poop. Pick an aerodynamic shaped pellet. The key is, the fresher (and wetter) it is, the further the pellet flies. Unfortunately, you get improved flavor over drier pellets. If using wetter pellets, this activity should be done in the evening at a sundowner.....alcohol rinse. If you are tall, you definitely have a trajectory advantage.
Draw a line in the sand. If your PH is generous, he'll give a a second line a couple feet forward to your advantage.......Curl your tongue to make a tube shape. Load your pellet ( solids work best). Be sure when you load your breath, you don't inhale the pellet. Let'er fly. Have someone reputable mark the spot where it lands (cheating may be involved).
Practice, practice, practice. This may be an Olympic sport one day.

I have yet to win a contest......but I do enjoy the alcohol rinse.

I knew signing up on this sight would bring a wealth of knowledge

My PH, had my daughter and I do an Eland poop spit when we were there in 2018. He went first, I went next, and just a my daughter placed the nugget in her mouth for her turn, is when Frickie announced that it was Eland shit. At least she was able to spit it out and not swallow it, by mistake, as she started to gag at the thought of it.
Not to brag or anything but I did spit the shit the farthest. It had no taste as it had been drying in the sun for some time.

Hmmm. Sounds a lot like the "snipe hunting" expeditions we arranged for unsuspecting wannabees back in my high school days. "Here ya go. This bag is all that's needed. Wait till after midnight. Call for them: 'Here sniiipeee!' Works best in the rain. The tasty little buggers will fly right into the sack."

No one is smearing me with blood or making me eat raw liver as some kinda right of passage. So I sure as hell won't put any turds in my mouth. I haven't been that drunk since the bachelor's party for my first marriage back in 1979.

File this under things I would not do.

Leopard bowhunt with dogs...sure.
Tuskless cow elephant hunt with a single shot...heck why not?
Cape buffalo hunt with a 45-70...might be fun?

Feces spitting for distance. Nope, hard pass.

To each their own. I'll pass out the breath mints after.

Not exactly the same, but Beaver oklahoma has had a cow chip throwing contest for generations. I entered it as a youngster. I’m sure I wouldn’t put anything like that in my mouth.

When we take a new guy out on the boat snapper fishing, we tell him to bite the tail off the frozen cigar minnow to “stop it from spiraling as he drops down, that’s the way we all do it.” He only figures out the truth when he sees us quietly using a bait knife.

Impala poop spitting? Yeah… same vibe. Not me.

I’ve been bored before, but never bored enough to do that.

Nope

I like the alcohol rinse but never been in a bottle bad enough to put poop pellets in my mouth.

Well “Bokdrol Spoeg” is a prank played on guests & not a true tradition/sport as such, I think it has grown into one lol

Not practiced by me for sure but I remember my buddies trying it on me way back.

We have Gumboot throwing in Taihape !

We just get you to pee on and electric fence were I come from :ROFLMAO: we obviously don’t tell you it’s electric…….guess they have a shortage to that is SA with all the load shedding

Good morning,
Did you hunt w Leeuwkop at their ranch or in Zimbabwe? The ranch looks awesome, but I'll be in Zimbabwe for buffalo and whatever else we dig up.
What did you hunt for?
Vaccines?
What rifle did you use?
I feel like I need a good cotton safari shirt and an ammo belt to make the hunt feel right!
How often did you shoot prior to going?
Did you use sticks for shooting practice?
