I just added another Big Bore to the Family - a Kimber 375 H&H

I received the rifle in hand today ... Absolutely near new ... What a wonderful gun from the early years of Kimber. Field test to follow.

Here is the original link. The pictures from Morris are much better than any I could show.

According to the internets leading authority google (hehehe) big bore starts at 40 caliber. Very nice rifle all the same.

Best value in a safari rifle made in America IMO. Too bad they didn’t continue making them, with the cz550 gone they had a great opportunity.

@buckstix - Congratulations on an amazing (mid-bore) rifle. Sorry, the bigs start at .400” and you can’t go from small to big without having a mid. ;)

2 thoughts. 1) That is an absolutely gorgeous rifle. It looks brand new! 2) I thought big bores started at 40(?).

Since I have apparently offended some of you ... I changed the post ...

That is a fantastic looking rifle, and congratulations on such a find! I hope it performs for you just as wonderfully as it looks, and here's to many years of enjoyment! :-)

PS - I don't get hung up on the "big-bore" vs "mid-bore" distinction. To me, 375H&H is a "perfect bore" caliber. ;-)

@buckstix - My 375H&H is the one I reach for more than anything else when it comes to hunting. It’s just really good at nearly everything.

It also happens to be the largest cartridge I own, but still a mid-bore. ;) I’ve owned and shot larger, but this is all I really need considering the number of times I’m looking to hunt DG.

Hope you enjoy that beautiful rifle.

Very nice :D Beers:

Don't cave in to fringe elements.... the non-believers..

Beautiful little rifle by the way...

.

A great looking DG rifle ! Congratulations.

I have owned two of the Kimber Caprivi rifles. A .416 and a .458 Lott......unfortunately neither of them shot well at all......I mean like a 6" group at 100 yards with several types of factory ammo. They are beautiful rifles but I was not going to keep chasing it. Kimber would do nothing for me as they had not made them for some time. I have heard the .375 versions are more accurate so I hope you find this the case. Also, do not put a sling on that barrel band until you test it thoroughly they are known to come off. Its an easy fix if it does but you want to avoid your gun hitting the ground I would assume. if it comes loose...reach out and I will share the easy fix...DIY.

Outstanding !

Original Kimber is an entirely different, well made rifle versus the bean-counter-inspired Caprivi and Talkeetna that came later.

Original Kimber with superb Mauser/Winchester hybrid action.
integral main recoil lug on action.
Integral Kimber scope bases on the "square bridges."
Original Kimber rings like I used to buy along with the screw-on bases for my Pre-'64 M70 .375 H&H.

Quite unlike the later Kimber Remchester pipe-actions with washer recoil lugs sandwiched between
barrel and action.

Bravo !

Kimber makes a hell of a PISTOL.

Kimber of Oregon was a totally different company.

The “what qualifies for the label big bore” is always entertaining. To me, it seems easier to draw the line at what is the smallest caliber you’re safe to take elephant hunting anywhere, regardless of caliber restrictions. Or maybe leaving the title to only calibers used for stopping rifles but then there’s another debate.

Congratulations on your new gun, though using .375 and big bore in the same sentence is a good example of usage of an oxymoron.

Using the take elephant anywhere scenario, history would suggest the 9.3x62 as the starting point.

Nice Report! Im about to pull the trigger on booking the LDE with Patrick. I have been talking about it with him for about 3 yrs now. Romain hit me up the other day with an offer I can't refuse for 2027.

Andrew, I commented that your on 375 H&H for sale was the fair price.

Like I commented, my classic stainless has the original 24” barrel.

Did you buy yours with the barrel already cut down to 21” or did you do it (or a gunsmith)?

You might have edited your post on the PH in the Bubye. I know the PH and is a wonderful person and a fmaily man and runs a succesful business in Zim and just doesn't want the attention that the internet offers, the ugly kind.
