About LEFOL SAFARIS

Alain Lefol Safaris which is now called LEFOL SAFARIS since his son Kewin Lefol joined Alain full time as a Professional Hunter In the Central African Republic to be part of the team. Kewin has been guiding hunts in C.A.R. since 2014 and Alain who is licensed in C.A.R., Tanzania, Zimbabwe & Chad started his professional hunting career in Kenya in 1976 followed by C.A.R. in 1979.

LEFOL SAFARIS started operating in the Vovodo area in 2009 which was never hunted before. It is an incredible hunting area and a great adventure that still offers some places where no sport hunter has ever been.

Our hunting area consists of 1.4 million acres (560,000 hectares), with no village, and is situated in the Eastern part of the country. The biotope consists of forest galleria where you can find a variety of pure Congolese forest, savanna woodlands, big openings, and some swamps. This region is pretty hilly, you can go in elevation from 500 meters (1,640 feet) to 1,000 meters (3,280 feet). The 3 main rivers are Chinko, Vovodo, and Bita which run all year long. They are full of fish including the Goliath Tigerfish, Nile Perch, and many other species.

Our hunting season in C.A.R. starts in January and runs until mid-July.

Due to this unique biotope, you can find within our area forest and savanna species. The Eastern part of C.A.R. is known to boast most of the record trophies for Bongo and world-class Lord Derby Eland (also known as Giant Eland).

Twenty-five species available to be hunted:
- Bongo by tracking with dogs and machan (elevated tree stands/platforms). These Bongos have much bigger bodies than the ones found in the Rain Forest weighing up to 363 kilograms (880 pounds)
- Central African Savannah Buffalo mainly by tracking and stalking. Savannah Buffaloes come in a variety of colors and sizes
- Harnessed Bushbuck
- Red River Hog
- Caracal
- Civet
- Serval
- Blue Duiker by calling
- Red Flanked Duiker
- Western Bush Duiker
- Weyns's Duiker by calling
- Yellow Back Duiker by calling, machan (elevated tree stands/platforms), and stalking
- Lord Derby Eland by tracking
- Giant Forest Hog by tracking, machan (elevated tree stands/platforms), and stalking
- Lelwel Hartebeest
- Leopard by baiting
- Lion by baiting and calling
- Oribi
- Western Roan Antelope
- Forest Sitatunga
- Warthog
- Sing-Sing Waterbuck
- Porcupine
- Baboon
- Patas Monkey

Also, you can hunt some birds such as Helmeted Guineafowl, Forest Guineafowl, and Francolin.

Our Hunting team is a mix between Pygmies and Zandes. Some of our team members who are from the Pygmy tribe have been hunting with us for more than 20 years and possess amazing skills in the forest. The Zandes are a local tribe who used to hunt the big Elephants of the past and are highly skilled trackers.

The camp is situated next to the Vovodo River and made with African bamboo, each has double cabin Columbia tents with adjoining toilets and showers.

We also use fly camps with all of the equipment needed to be comfortable.

Our cook has been with us for nearly 30 years can cook all sorts of meals. The food is first class with freshly baked bread every day. The garden in the camp provides us with fresh vegetables and fruit. Many of our supplies come from Bangui, the capital of C.A.R., as well as from France.

Your journey should first take you to Paris in France from your home base. Once in Paris, you need to take a connecting flight to Bangui, the capital of C.A.R. Once you arrive in C.A.R. you will spend the night in a good hotel in the capital and the next day take a charter plane to our airstrip which is located 15 minutes drive from our camp.

To enter C.A.R. you need to have a visa and the yellow fever vaccination. Prophylaxis against malaria is highly recommended.

Excellent information on your camps. Thank you for sharing. I am looking forward to visiting your booth at the convention in January.

Good to know that the CAR is reasonably safe for foreign hunters. A long time it wasn't.
