Hunters Trolling PETA

:E Lol:

I got to put a second one up today actually. I noticed it a day ago when all of a sudden a few people I know suddenly changed facebook profile pictures.

I saw a couple of my friends with that on their profile last night...I was a little confused. Makes sense now. Gotta get someone to do it with a giraffe pic now! :A Stirring:

See guys? Another reason to join Facebook!

and all this time I thought PETA stood for People Eating Tasty Animals

Saw this all over FB last night :ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:

My son already has lol

If I can get one of my dogs to pose for me, that should really piss off the bunny huggers.

I saw it yesterday, I figured I'd let them choke on that one. With any luck all of our combined help a few million of these anti nut jobs will drown themselves in their bathtubs tonight.

I found this article and actually thought it was interesting and wondered what you guys thought?

Disclaimer: I think most of us agree for the reason that I started this thread. It was not to fuel hate with hate, but to just have a few laughs. We as sportsmen/conservationists/hunters have a responsibility to be respectful and professional, even when the opposition is being unreasonable.

There are useful thoughts from Outdoor Life. The fast fact cards should be useful.

I think using the filter are hunters having an inside joke. It's the first time I can think of where that has happened on this scale.

The article is part of the move to make hunting PC. Dirty secret is that things die when hunters are successful. I am not sure being embarrassed about that is helping anyone. A photo of a successful hunt is not kiddie porn - it is a celebration. Celebrations can be glorious or crass, depends how you do it. But, having fun with it is not playing into PETA's hands.

Interesting article and perspective....

I read it and thought, "crap, should I have used that frame on FB? Am I doing harm to the cause for a laugh?"

After some reflection I decided that, for me, making a joke at PETA and using the frame was the right thing to do. I set it for a week originally and plan to leave it for that time.

Here is why I think it's ok, again, for me.

  1. The picture I used is tasteful and I've used it as my profile pic before
  2. I'm a hunter and I shouldn't be ashamed
  3. PC is crap. Respectful, yes. PC, no.
  4. Hunting and killing is part of life, even if it is a vegan killing a plant, they are killing.
  5. People who aren't hunters need to understand No 4. Urban society masks the killing and distorts it, making it always bad and evil. It's not.
Stick to the facts and educate people. For me, this helps to do that. We are so much better armed than we were when Cecil occurred. I think most of us have a better handle on the facts (I know I do) and we are STARTING to make better use of social media.

I've said it before and I will say it again. If you aren't on FB simple because you believe it's anti-hunting (doesn't matter if you are ready right or wrong) then you are doing yourself and the hunting movement a disservice. It's a tool. We must use it, or put ourselves at a serious disadvantage.
