Happy Friday, everyone! My name is Kagan, and I'm from outside of Houston, Texas.

I've been a long-time reader of the forum- joined a while back, and have enjoyed and learned from many of the threads and posts found here. I've hunted often in Texas and a few other states, but have always dreamt of making the journey to Africa. I started reading Capstick, Ruark, Hemingway et. al. 20+ years ago around the time I started hunting as a kid, and have found myself in spot-and-stalk exotic hunts quietly pretending in my mind to be somewhere deep in Africa on the trail of a kudu or buff.

I am now getting to a point in life where I am actually, finally starting to plan and prepare for a first safari. I recently picked up a Ruger RSM in .458 Lott to satisfy a big-bore itch, likely to be the first of many, and will start practicing with it off the sticks at my place in the Texas Hill Country. I have three young boys that I hope to take along someday, but for now, we will fit in whitetail, axis and hog hunting out of the old Willys Jeep (my stand-in for a Cruiser) in between baseball and other sports activities.

I am thankful to have this forum and its members as a resource to continue learning from, something that I'm sure will be invaluable in that endeavor. I look forward to returning the favor with thoughtful engagement and, hopefully, some hunting reports and personal acquaintances over time!

:S Welcome:

Welcome from the Texas Hill Country

Welcome to the group, hope that safari is able to come about soon and we get to read your first report

Howdy KB. Where in Houston? Huffman / Lake Houston here

I live in Boerne - welcome
Hello Kevin, we now live in rural Bandera, just had lunch at Popo's by Boerne the other day:)

And unfortunate as it may be too our check book, my wife's favorite furniture store is Calamity Jane's in Boerne;)

Good day! Welcome! May you live the dream soon!

Welcome!!! What part of the Hill Country are you referring to? It's a big beautiful area;) We are near Bandera.

Hope you pull together an African Safari soon! If you need any more Ruger RSM or Express rifles, let me know.

Thanks! Our place is near Hilda, southwest Mason County, roughly in between Mason and Fredericksburg. Bandera/Medina/Vanderpool is definitely a beautiful area with some real ‘hills’! We make an annual trip to the Frio River every summer and I always try to take the scenic route through there on the way from Houston. If my wife had her druthers though, we’d live around Boerne on a golf course. I’m trying to postpone that a bit so I’ll actually have some funds for safaris!

Thanks for the offer on the rifles! Id like to round out the RSM collection with a .375 and .416 if you happen to have either…

I go and shoot at Joshua Creek regularly so drive past Popo's often. Also drive through Bandera almost on a weekly basis to visit exotic ranches all over south TX

Welcome to the addiction. That's a great rifle for Africa DG. We look forward to hearing more from you and eventually a hunt report.

Welcome aboard from a fellow Texan, down near Uvalde.

Had an excellent classifieds transaction with JoninCO. A truly honest and standup member. I wouldn't hesitate at all to deal with him again. Thanks, J!

Hi Lance, Hope you well. I collect Mauser rifles and they are very much part of my cultural history in Africa. Would you consider selling the rifle now a year on ? I'd like to place it in my collection of Mauser rifles. Many thx

I saw where you hunted elephant with backcountry safaris in Zimbabwe.
Was looking to book an elephant hunt and wanted to know how your hunt went
and if you would recommend them.

Thanks
Mike
hi, do you know about lions hunters, leopard hunters, and crocodiles hunters of years 1930s-1950s
