I used the 154gr 7mm bullet in our 7mmRM's for a couple decades. It accounted for a truck load of Muley's in that time frame. I didn't have a good understanding of 'bullet performance' back then, but if we put it in a CNS spot or the boiler room we had a dead deer. My longest shot was a Big Muley at what I estimated and dialed as a bit over 700 yards (back before range finders) and it took the top of the heart off. I killed a handful of elk with the bullet as well, with no specific recollections of any bullet failures. I then discovered Boat tail bullets and played around with a number of bullets until Nosler introduced the 160gr Accubond and I've never looked back since then.
