Roger I think the Headspace would be off with the 9.3X74 cases as much thinner rim ?

Nice rifle & a very nice under rated cartridge, I have a few of them, all bolt guns, would like to try one regulated for the 320gr load but really the 270gr is more than needed on the game you should be shooting with the 2.5in, I use 200, 220gr, 235gr, 250gr some meant for the .375Win which are getting a bit hard to find now days.

It is a Lot more than the .375Win & Not a .303 Brit case necked up, you could use them (30/40 Krag & modified .444Marlin, 405Win) but loads do work best in the proper cases.
Thank you sir. I'd be interested in some of your light bullet load recipes if you don't mind.

Not sure Roger, but the 9.3x74 didn’t work for me when I tried to use them !

30/40 & 303 did but short, .444Marlin took some work as did .405Win.

I think too thin to work in my Steyr but also issues in the Lee Speeds.

I could make one up again & see what the trouble was as years ago now.

What are you shooting your loads in ?

@degoins your H&H is beautiful. And in a very useful caliber!

Id have to have a deep dig to see if I wrote any thing down on those, but I used RL15 & AR2208 (Varget same) my Westley Richards loves the 220gr load, not sure you will have any joy with light bullets in a Double if regulated for the 270gr slug ?

I've never had much trouble getting lighter bullets to regulate in the doubles I've owned. I had a vintage Alex Henry that actually listed a load for light and heavy bullets in the ledger.

Nothing beats the graceful lines of a Holland & Holland pre-WW1 doublerifle. The Dominions were not sidelocks, but backactions which is even better in my book.

I got the info on it from Holland and Holland. It was made for a Mr. Hay in 1904. Unusual as it originally came with a Lyman tang sight as well as the barrel sights. Filler screws are in place and look original. And it appears from the copies of the ledger that Mr. Hay also had a .303 built because part of it says "stock same as .303"
If only this thing could talk!

Found a few loads written down, start below these & work up in a Double.

These were no trouble in my Lee Speeds & Steyr action bolt guns.

AR2208/Varget same powder.

I loaded from 48gr to 50gr of Varget with 270gr RN
I use 48gr as it shoots to sights & recoil is nice.

I use 50gr with the 200gr to 235gr Speer
These all shot well in my Steyr & one Speeder the other has a worn bore & really only shoots the Woody 270gr with exceptable accuracy.

I also had similar loads with Reloader 15 but had trouble finding more powder, actually same with 2208/Varget nowadays !

Thank you sir. I haven't seen any Reloader 15 in a very long time around here. And very little of any other for that matter. I've had to order pretty much every powder that I use.

Jerome, do you think my last post in rough camping must maybe shift as an article?

Good afternoon,

I'm trying to get in contact with Mr Butch Searcy. I have the opportunity to buy one of his rifles chambered in 577 nitro Express however the seller does not have any of the paperwork with the information about what ammunition or bullet weight was used to regulate it. I know he is not making firearms anymore but I wanted to reach out after seeing one of your post about him.

Hi - the only (best) method of sending you the .375/06IMP data is with photographing my book notes. My camera died so the only way I can do it is with my phone. To do that, I would need your e-mail address, as this
new Android phone is too complicated to upload to my desk computer, which would be easier and to down-grade, reduce the file sizes.
Best wishes
Daryl
