How suitable would an open-sighted big bore rifle be for this hunt? Can the hippos be stalked on land?

@BenKK defenatly possible with a open sight depending on time frame and days we can spend hunting Hippo, hippos can also be stalked on land but will enter the water early morning and only exit it late afternoon or early evening. If we hunt hard and from before day light till after dark i do think we will get a shot with in 20 - 50 yard. Stays nature so lot more then just that need to be working, to get a shot.
it's a big dam and we need to predic what path they will be using to feed and return to the water.
But would be a good experience.
