Beautiful, good weight too. Not sure I would want the peep sight on a 500 NE but that is an easy fix.

The downside is I want a big double so bad but totally overkill for everything in North America but the biggest bears, Bison and Blue Whale.

It is sold. Someone got a nice price as the listing said it was a new rifle.

Ok so still not a used 89b on the market. It will come of course, but interestind that they are being tightly held onto, what is not to like?
I couldn't tell you if there is anything not to like... I don't have one yet.

A nice rifle, but personally I would not want the peep sight and although it could be changed to express sights my guess would be that the cost would be in excess of another $1,000.00.

I have handled both the 88b & the 89b. I do like the feel and handling of the 89b over the 88b. Either one would serve a hunter for a few lifetimes. Either one will do the job that they were designed to do.

11.5 to 12 pounds for a 500 NE is the sweet spot in terms of handling recoil in my experience with the caliber

Completely understand. I have gone down to my own sweet spot which is a 470. It is right at 10.8 pounds and works fine

I contacted Mr. Sells apx one year ago to see if he'd happen to have an 88 in .500 .. he kindly explained there was an 89B coming back. The hunter thought it was too heavy @ 12lbs.
I was under the impression "this was it". I may be terribly mistaken.
