Good evening,

on the weekend I got this information about the Heym "special editions" in .600 NE. I thought it might be interesting for someone. Here you got the information attached for those "big toys". Have fun browsing and reading, and a lovley evening.

Warm regards from Germany

The pricing is good but there is a big problem.. A .600 that weigh 12,4 - 13,2 lbs has extreme recoil..bordering on being not shootable..

A 12,4lbs .600 will propell you into the next county..

I once shot a .600 at 13,2..the barrels pointed ca. 70 degrees at each shot...and gave me that run-over-a-train feeling..

I have also shot a Holland & Holland Royal .600.. At 16,2 lbs and perfectly balanced it was a joy to shoot..

I mean..why oh why cant Heym make a .600 of proper weight since they do the effort of making one..?

Unfortunately for those of us in the USA the waiting time is at least a year longer than completion date due to very poor customer service. I’ve bought my last HEYM until this greatly improves.

@Pondoro

Normally, I would agree with your excellent reasoning. But I’ve actually hunted a hippopotamus on land with a Heym Model 88B sidelock ejector chambered in .600 Nitro Express. It really did weigh only 13 pounds, but for some reason… the recoil seemed quite manageable. Excellent stock fit, perhaps ?

Maybe you were so full of adrenalin that you did not feel the recoil Habib. :p Just joking..

Maybe. Nothing gets the juices flowing like hippopotamus bulls in the sugarcane fields at night !

Habib, we are both fanatic about the .600. My thought is that Heym could have upscaled the boxlock beyond the size of the Grossbox and thus made way for barrels with more weight.. A 14 lbs rifle would have been more acceptable to me.. A 23" barrel is too short for this caliber, 25-26" is crucial for getting max. velocity. Everything is constructed and made by CNC these days..and the hand finishing is equal even with an upscaled action.. My 2 cents.. € 46.000 sans tax is a very good price these days for a .600.

Oh my..this post made the sirens sing .600 again..

thanks for your reply bob , is it feasible to build a 444 on a P14/M17 , or is the no4 enfield easier to build? i know where i can buy a lothar walther barrel in 44, 1-38 twist , but i think with a barrel crown of .650" the profile is too light .
