They were lower than that on final close out. Gen. 2 obviously. However, original sales price has no bearing on current value.

Their current value is due to the demand for them due to them being discontinued and being excellently designed for larger bore rifles for dangerous game. I’m not even in the market and I’ve seen 2 sell recently, one for $4500, and one for around $5100. They’re essentially collectors items now, and their lowest sell in price no longer matters.
