My electric rod dehumidifier in my gun safe is looking a bit worn and brittle so I am going to replace it. It's about 15 years old. I am debating whether to replace with another electric rod, a desiccant can or both.

Comments?

I've watched a bunch of YouTube videos on the subject.
Seems the electric rods work well.
I have 2 vaults and each has a "golden rod" dehumidifier.

Good idea to replace them though, I need to look into that.
Nothing like a potential fire inside a vault designed to keep fire out.

In your part of the world, I'd recommend the "belt and suspenders" approach. The golden rod will be doing the heavy lifting most of the time and extend the life of the desiccant. But for those times the power goes out (unless you have a back up generator) the desiccant will be there to keep things dry.

I would be interested in it if you pass. Please send me the info on the gun shop if you do not buy it. I have the needed ammo and brass.
Thanks,
Ross
