I just wanted to write a short note to let everyone know that our first trip to South Africa this May (2018) was absolutely wonderful! {I will post a more detailed account soon.} We were treated exceptionally well by Abie Steyn and the habitat, animal quality and numbers of the animals on the three ranches were exceptional. Abie Steyn and his associates worked hard to make everything about this trip very pleasant! Anyone considering a trip to Africa can select him as their outfitter with confidence. My wife accompanied me on the trip as a non-hunter and was treated like royalty, even having a spa day in Marloth Park on Mother's Day. I've read the threads, good and bad, and I can tell you that my experience was only good. When I return to Africa, I can assure you that my first contact will be Abie.

    Thank you, DFWCaveman

Just curious why you feel the need to cover your faces on AH? Always like to hear each persons perspective.
    Regards
    Philip

I know AH is safe.. however, I decided early on that I didn't want to risk pictures being circulated that could cause me grief, so the best way to assure that is to block the faces from the beginning..

The question is not directed to me, but I dont blame anybody who covers the face.
Generally, if there is no photos of hunters with their (dead) prey, there would not be any public attacks on public media against the hunters. Anti hunting sentiment would be reduced to almost nothing.
Many hunters suffered due to their public pictures being getting wings and out of control on internet all the way to printed press.

AH is safe, as safe can be on internet, but photos can be downloaded and abused anywhere else.

I know for fact, there are some hunting clubs forbidding taking photos with dead anymals after the hunt, and I am not critical about this decision.

Personally, I have my job, my family, my life, my hobbies, including hunting and I really do not need anybdy messing my life by stealing my photos from hunt, and giving me hard time and my hunting community on public media.

Those are all arguments against posting photos with hunters faces, dead animals, guns on public internet.

On another side, sharing something to which each and every hunter is proud is priceless.

So, I am pretty much divided on the subject. I am not "all for it" in any direction.

I beleive, that this is question of personal "PR": when was the last time we saw any politician posting public pictures of their hunts? Today its rare, as it will create opposition from non hunting or anti gun and animal rights voters.
On a personal level, the question is how much PR we want to be, or how much political correct we want to be in a public? A personal question to every hunter.

In any case, when photo is taken, it must be ethical, no blood visibe, the game properly positioned, and some respect visible, this goes withous saying, or it can be easily taken in a wrong way by non hunting people, misinterpreted or even abused.

The public photo with hunters faces, brings some unwanted risks today.

Welcome and congratulations on your hunt. It’s a personal choice for sure weather or not to share your face on the internet with your hunting trophies or for that matter anything else in your life. I understand and respect your opinion on this. I feel no matter what we do or don’t do anti hunting sentiments will always remain the same. And the fight to take our sport and guns away will always be there. In today’s world it’s just not good enough to say live and let live. If anti hunting people are offended by our pictures just don’t look at them. No....they feel the moral obligation to take it away from us because they need to save wildlife. Bullshit. I for one am very proud to be a hunter and to have experienced what I have. Sorry to hijack your post but theses anti hunting zealots piss me off.

Good points. If this becomes commonplace I wonder if fake hunt reports could be created? I mean if it’s a pic of no one then what’s to keep unscrupulous folks from posting positive or even negative Hunt reports? Just a thought for discussion.

Congrats and well done. Personally I don’t cover my face but I do understand and respect your decision. I am near retirement and don’t really give a crap what the antis think or say. If they feel safe coming on my farm to harass me, bring it on!
