Good hunting in Hungary, bad experience with booking agent

Indeed there is a 27% VAT in Hungary. Mako and the plains of Hungary between the rivers "Tisza" and "Duna" are a great place to hunt roe deer. Indeed paying package price of 550 Euro per buck is decent, though it is a bit dependent on trophy weight. Importing the trophies should not be an issue. That is getting them out of Hungary/EU, entering with them to the US may be entirely different ball of wax...
I am glad your hot was a good as far as Hungary is concerned, and I am sorry that your agent did not live up to the expectations.

The trophy quality can be as good as Sweden, Spain, Dorset in the UK, and anywhere else in Europe.

Prices are generally reasonable.

(1) my booking agent traveled with me to each place we hunted and he did all the driving when I was in Croatia. I was thankful for the transportation. When in Slovenia he just dropped off and pick up to Bled.
(2) unfortunately, some European countries have the VAT as an add on and not included. Spain also being an add on VAT, it’s 21%.

sorry you had a bad experience with your booking agent. But 550 plus VAT is not a bad price for a Roe.

I have zero issues with the cost, my issues is with the booking agent. Ring a slob and not being truthful. The hunt was great

The number of reliable taxidermist in Europe can be counted on one man's toes and fingers, that is probably an over estimate.

I respectfully disagree. There are loads more in Europe than those, dozens.For exporting to outside EU there a a few specialized export companies that are highly respected and credible.

I am booked for eight days with my outfitter in Africa. It's in the letter of invitation I need to get my guns and myself into the country. Barring an emergency, I cannot simply decide to up and leave early.

I've left plenty of hunts early because I was finished what I came to do. This is the norm in most of Africa - and outfitters understand and even encourage it! Hunters who have got what they wanted are just an expense in camp - eating, drinking and going on game drives. Better you go home and save them the costs.

Having said that, you don't get a refund or rebate on your stay if you leave early.

But maybe things are different in Europe or Hungary?

To make it clear on my end, I didn’t want a refund, o got done what I. Needed to, why I’m upset is because of the crappiest service I’ve ever seen, the worst treatment I’ve ever had, and the most vile disgusting booking agent on the planet

How was the food and drink/ beer ? I love hearing about the food, drinks, accommodations of the places people go.

The outfitter and PH have an expectation of at least the daily rate when the contract is signed. For some special hunts like buffalo, when the animal is harvested, the contract is fulfilled. Then the client is free to go or stay for duration of contract's limit. For those hunts the daily rate is usually not applicable. Not in my experience anyway. For plains game packages the expectation is client will stay till booked departure date. My experience. My plane tickets are locked in so not sure what I'd do or where I'd go if I decided to pack it in early.

For plains game there is no expectation for a client to stay to the end date of his hunt if he has taken all his animals and wished to leave early....they are welcome to stay but some decide to head home for various reasons....they change their ticket....

Every year I have been in Europe on this trip I have left Slovenia early. I am usually done in a day and on the road the next morning.

the result is less vacation days burned, more time with family and the outfitter can get back to work.

As you are all aware guys there are two sides to a story and when i finish on this hunt and i am still on unlike Mr Bobby has stated, I will reply in full.

But let’s start with asking how he shot on the trip and how hard we had to work to even to get him within a capable for him shooting distance!!!! But only to find him sat on his backside on his phone non stop checking Facebook!!! Then to watch him spit down the side of the truck non stop as he was too lazy to move. I have hunted everyday since the first of April and unfortunately picked up a bug from one of my previous clients and was very unwell but chose to carry on and guide Mr Bobby as anyone in my job would do with your client travelling half way around the world. I am not just the booking agent I have worked with my partners in Hungary and Transylvania and England for 17 years now and if we where so disrespectful of each other why are we fishing together the day after you left and hunting together until the 28th and planning our next grous in for July and April. Bobby you was ear please and told yes yes yes buddy so you would leave, you bqng on about respect for the hunting world but you jump on a page like this and your first post is boom poor Bobby …..

Bobby I could sit on here and say so much about you and your manors and conduct but I have a job to do, so you fill your boots with whatever makes you happy to say about me / us but after 17 years working together and countless happy clients I really couldn’t give a second thought to yours bull shit comments, yet another laptop hero.

The Hungarian 27% you pay to my partner not me for an overseas wire transfer and look on your contract it’s clearly started the cost of the hunt. Your just but hurt because of your poor shooting and wife telling you it’s time to leave after you left her alone in Budapest so you could get an extra days hunting in.

Sorry to jump on but I have had a number of people say have you seen what this bone head is saying, I would let it go over my head but if anyone wishes to see the truth follow my Facebook page I will do you all a FULL hunters review with photos and videos and the state he left the hotel in.

But as we all know it’s easy to come home a bitch about the set up after right.

This has been my experience this far. The people in Hungary say no problem on getting them back, I’m not holding my breath.

We hunted in Mako, it’s some beautiful country! I do not know the weight of animals, it was not a trophy hunt, although he pushed me to hunt a, “gold medal” animal for an extra 4500€ I turned that down
