I think $2800 is a pretty ambitious ask, especially with the Hogsback stock. But the market will determine fair value.

The market decided....$2800

It was purchased on the "Buy It Now" for $2800. The buyer apparently did not want to get beat to the punch as he/she did the BIN with no other bids being placed...didn't even try to buy it at the starting bid of $2300. Just went straight to the $2800 BIN

On the enabling front, there's a BFR in .460 S&W on Alaska'sList right now for $1200. Seems cromulent to me. I heart my BFR in .475 Linebaugh. This is a bigger one with the long cylinder, so would be a little heavier than I'm used to.
But if you're looking for a pretty nice single action heavy hitter, this seems like a deal to me.
PS, it's not mine, I don't know the owner, I 've never seen it, and have nothing to gain here.

For all these CZ550 magnums floating around with hog-back stocks, I think that AHR still has a bunch of take-off straight stocks from their custom guns. If it were me, I'd be swapping out stocks for cheap. The hog backs are not particularly comfortable or pretty, and the wood on the british style stocks was pretty darned good. A few years ago $100-$150 would get you one of these stocks. I'd wager in ten years guns so configured will command a $1000 premium.

The auction has a very nice Rigby from 1904 in 450NE 3 1/4"- made prior to the banning of .45" cartridges. If I had a few uncommitted $$ and I was familiar with how to get the rifle across the pond I'd consider getting it so that my 470NE would have some company.

The price of the gun is too high in my opinion, but I have a very soft spot in my heart for Martini-Henry sporting rifles. They are elegant and harken back to the Boer War, Zulu Wars, and all the other trappings of the late Victorian period.

But still, the price is too high. ($2000-$2400 gun in USD. $3500CAD is about $2575USD, plus add $1200USD to get it in your hands if from the USA.

For a Canadian member, I think buying it for $2800CAD is about full retail since these guns are more common in Imperial countries than the USA.

At least $1000 USD or CAD additional if it has its original case and accessories. Not just the tangible value of the case, but it alludes to "not messed with" and "well cared for". Stinky oil pots and old cotton flannel patches and tired bore brushes also add to the total value for the same reasons.

What would be involved in bidding on/paying/shipping a gun on the Springer auction? Any special permits required in advance, etc?
