Good Gun Deals This Week

Just seen this nice stock!
That’s probably one of the nicest Parker Hale rifles in existence, and a sub $1000 375 Mauser is never a bad idea.

I should be snatched up ASAP: It's being sold by JJ so you can be confident. Ammo fairly available, proven shooter. Pretty good deal.
I am heading by JJ’s later this week, if anyone wants additional photos or eyes on

If won’t be sub $1000 by the time you land it in the US

If it’s got no issues then you have a classic. If you can get it for a good price! If. I’d email the guys at holts and ask for a few other photos. Muzzle crown, stock cracks if any etc.
Done it before and they are very good at coming back with what you want before you bid.

What would be considered a good deal for something like this? I have a Cape Buffalo hunt booked for 28 and I am really considering purchasing a rifle rather than renting one for this hunt.
You will need 375hh or bigger.

New rigby is going for 25k+ in the 375/416 size range.

So how much under the new price you can find it for is whatever you consider a deal.

The one posted is 8mm mauser wich is why its probably not sold. That price in a 416 or 375 would have sold the day listed.

For a cz or similar you see them go for 3-4k
In same calibers. So anything under seems to be a good deal. Im not the expert tho.

As @farmer_john stated, a .375 is the minimum dangerous game rifle allowed in most countries in Africa. Since you have some time before your buffalo hunt, i would suggest you search for a rifle that is ready to go to Africa. In whatever price range fits your budget. By ready to go to Africa i mean it has all the known issues addressed, has good glass if you want a scope, and basically bulletproof. Then you can just concentrate on lots of practice time. Ask questions here if you need better info mine. I am certainly no expert. These type rifles are sometimes listed here on AH.

@Todd_1
A Winchester Model 70 Classic is a modern controlled round feed (CRF) action and can be bought in .375 H&H for approximately $2000. A good friend and AH member has shot over 150 head of African animals from the tiny duiker to a bull elephant with this basic rifle.

Dangerous game rifle (DGR) prices are finally rising due to inflation but here's one from a respected dealer for $2000,

The push feed M70's and others are generally less than $2k. There is nothing wrong with them except in our dreams when we are on our backs working another round into the chamber to save us from dangerous beasts... Most people want CRF over push feed rifles.

At $4k bolt action rifles start to be very nice. $6k to $8k will buy a gun of a lifetime. From there a used Heym or Rigby from $15k to over $20k are 98% as nice as can be built. To reach the mythical perfect bolt action that is as nice or fine as ever built, better figure $30k.

A quality double rifle for dangerous game start at around $13k to $15k.

Saw your post. Nice. Denver too. Genesee area (just off 70) if ever up this way. Alternatively, do you have a membership at GGC? Whatever, you'll have a wonderful time in Africa. Enjoy.
