Good Gun Deals This Week

You bought the two Heym, one 470NE and one 500NE, that were in Germany?
Allegedly. lol. I mean I paid for them, but still quite a bit before I can expect to see them. That 500 with the extended top just kept drawing me back. And the 470 seemed like too good a deal to leave alone, especially when there wasn’t much additional export/import costs (still tariff/tax). Really like the wood on the 470, but hoping to not fall in love with it, not even shoot it, but have it go to a better home and help offset some of the costs on the 500. I love my 89b 450, so pretty sure the 470 would sit neglected in a safe if I kept it.

Very well done, I too had been ogling the 500NE, especially with the extended top strap.

Not sure if its a good deal or not but theres a westly richards take down for restoration might be good deal?

Interesting package for someone with time and some money to burn. I don’t understand what they are getting “take-down” from though. Unless they mean it in a sense that the possibility is there

You know if I were to throw thousands of dollars and thousands of hours into that Westley Richards, that thing would be worth hundreds.

All jokes aside, here's what's wrong with it. Not a take down. The prior gunsmith realized the pickle he was in because the barrels won't fit. (my conjecture)

Recobbling the rifle together will result in a rifle worth less than the effort.

I’m assuming the action can’t even be threaded back to spec?

It’s just a shame it wasn’t left as a 280 Ross - it’s not too difficult to reload for, and has ballistics just short of a 7mm Rem Mag or somewhere around a 280 AI. It might have been worth 5k premoleststion. As others have said, it’s basically man cave shelf art now.

The barrel needs to be threaded to the specs of the Action, and then removed, contoured to the stock, then removed to have a rear island sight and front ramp sight installed, then removed for bluing, then regulation and hand filing all the folding leafs, etc.

The thing will be a pariah without the correct style of WR front and rear sights, and those front and rear sights built, regulated, and installed will be $2000-$3000. And of course it won't be original and will be missing proof marks...terrible .

You could easily put $5000 more into this rifle beyond whatever it costs and in the end you'll make a rifle worth $3000. It's basically setting fire to hundred dollar bills.

Man. Beat me to the punch by about two months. I really wanted the .500 NE. Congratulations -- glad the rifles went to a AH'er.

Don't know if this is a super deal or not as I don't own anything for it, but noticed this on the shelf of a LGS while I was shopping.

Honestly, I have no clue. But spending 125.00 a box makes me shake and sweat... I can't imagine those fat girls.

It is almost absurd nearly $10 per shot. Not exactly practice ammo...

Be careful of hunting Chewore South, the area has been decimated.....

Curious about this. I hunted Chewore South with D&Y in September and they did tell me it was there last hunt there.

Which outfits shot it out?
Impala cull hunt for camp meat!
