You are fortunate to live in Louisiana. In my opinion, it is beautiful and has the best food in North America! (Or anywhere else for that matter...)

I visit your wonderful state at least once per year because my daughter teaches at the university in Lafayette. I most often go in March to take advantage of crawfish season!

My Father just bought a 35 whelen last year in a cva v2 it’s been fun comparing the differences in deer around here.

Safe bet all of the older farmers up in the Carrols know my dad. He's been retired from LSU for 20 years, but was an entomology specialist from LSU cooperative extension, he worked with lots or rice, bean, cotton, and sweet potato farmers.

Try one notch high THE 375 WETHERBY, it will put a concert for you.

Or he can just get a 35 Whelen load it properly and it will do everything the 338 will and more. Plus his hat will stay on his head and his teeth won't rattle when he uses the Whelen, unlike the big boomers you recommend.
It will do anything needed in the 50 states and all plains game.

Yes sir this is a mighty fine bunch of enablers. I do really like my 338 but I can promise you all that had I spent much time here first I would own a 35 whelen or a 9.3x62 instead

Yes get rid of that little 338 and get a 35 Whelen and load it properly.
You will be getting 2,900 fps with the 225 grainers and 2,700 fps with the 250 grainers. Those 2 loads put a lot of hurt on game.

I like all of them. They got a place in the scheme of things. Only rifle that has rattled my brain is the 338-378 after 20 rounds from the bench. The 340 and 375 wby are ok for me. I can handle that recoil off the bench or on the bench. Used to it.

There's a lot of information on loading the Whelen on this forum.

Yes sir Bob you are the one that enlightened me on the virtues of the 35 whelen. Dad and I have enjoyed discussing the performance that cartridge is capable of. It is surprisingly soft shooting for the power it’s got.

I do have a 25-06 that I wore the barrel out on that I talked to JES about drilling it out to 33 or 35 cal but somehow it just hasn’t got done
