Gokey is what we wish America looked like

I own an OEM that makes stuff here in the USA, so I try to buy American when it's possible.

I recently bought a soft case from Gokey. Quite expensive, so I know it's not an option for everybody. But this is the kind of company we all wish there were more of: small town employer, hand crafting super high quality products, all right here in the USA.

The image is tarnished a little since Gokey is owned by Boyt, who shipped their manufacturing to China. But still when you buy Gokey you're supporting a small town manufacturing company, you're supporting those jobs and families.

So, as Ferris Bueller said, if you have the means I highly recommend picking one up.

Just looked at their website, just like Russell they only make boots for people with small feet.

No 14 Wide.

For $600 they ought to be able to accommodate anyone.

Courtney makes a boot for me.

So do a lot of other people.

Yawn.

There are actually a lot of American made boot companies.

I have a pair of Danner elk hunters that are 14 W. Berry Compliant 100% American made.

Same as a pair of Danner military boots when I was in the military.

I know they do a lot of china stuff but if you pay the $150 or so mark up you can get an American made boot.

Just looked Danner makes 15 boots that are Berry compliant. And another 47 that are made in the USA. Another 41 that are built in the USA out of imported stuff.

They are also $400-600, but at least I can get them in a size I can wear.

I’m extremely happy with the belt I bought at SCI from their booth, it’s so hard to find quality things these days and I’ve completely rejected disposable consumerism.

It fantastic that you make the effort to buy American-made boots!

I have super wide feet and stopped buying Russells when thet stopped making custom boots.

Gokey will make custom boots so they can accomodate big wide feet (I'm FF width.) But not with their off-the-shelf boots.
