Great looking Eland there James!

All great looking animals... But that Bushbuck got my attentions! How long are those horns?

I think that one was over 16", here is another one my buddy Greg shot a couple years ago in the same area, this one is 17.5"

Yea I'm gonna need one of those! My bushbuck was a great hunt, hunted bushbuck on and off for days so felt like it was earned. Got it at last light after a long hard, hot day, and with a head on shot that did the job. So really rewarding. And he was a beauty, dark and old and worn but still nice bright markings... So spending a little extra on the mount even though he is only 12". He is one of my favorite Trophies.

But still would go after another in heart beat. And something that big would be icing on the cake!

I saw a lot of nyala in SA two weeks ago that would have made a good bushbuck ... this bushbuck would almost make a good nyala!

thanks for your reply bob , is it feasible to build a 444 on a P14/M17 , or is the no4 enfield easier to build? i know where i can buy a lothar walther barrel in 44, 1-38 twist , but i think with a barrel crown of .650" the profile is too light .
