    Hi folks,

I have 2 Swarovski 3-9x36 scopes. One sat on my .223 Rem and one on my .22lr, both are former "Demo" scopes from one of the largest Swarovski dealers in the UK (Who also has a wonderful collection of double rifles I am told).

Anyway, I'm looking to sell one or maybe both. Make me an offer, comes with matching serial number boxes, original covers and manuals.

I presume you’re based in the UK from your comment?

I am indeed in the UK.

I'm selling because I have 2 of these scopes. I will put one on my 9.3x62. My .22lr and .223rem are having scopes with a bigger objective put on them.

    Reticle is a No.4

Any other questions? Let me know and I'll answer as best as I can

I can't get the photos to enlarge to the extent that I can read the print- is the scope a Z3?

The demo units may or may not have warranties as they aren’t supposed to be sold. I have a demo I purchased under those terms from swaro. Nonetheless, I’d pay £200 delivered for one if they have no ring marks. A modern Z3 3-9x36 demo is £366 for comparison. The older model has equal quality glass, different coatings, and a slightly different tube finish. Overall, still great scopes.

Maybe in the good ol' US of buddy, here a new Z3 3-9x36 is £935 (yes ~ $1,215). Demo will be in the region of 30-40% of that. £200 is too little and a dealer has offered me considerably more in part exchange.

No worries. Just purchased one for £366 new-demo so thought I had offered a fair price. I have no knowledge of market conditions in the UK.

Is that a NickName for the US of A? There are those that might consider such a derogatory slur, which if directed at an audience of possible consumers, would have a negative effect on the transition of them to purchasers.

I saw no ill will, @Ray B, the gentlemen likely omitted the letter A and a comma from good ole US of A, Buddy.

And even if he didn't and he was "ballbusting" a bit, I don't mind a ribbing from a Brit whatsoever. We're cousins, we kicked them out of our nation, got over it, and together we set the basis for Western Society today. All ribbing is "in the family" and harmless. -I don't have a bust of the queen on my desk but I do have a photo of Churchill. :)

Point taken, Rook. It's nothing to me, however I cringe when I see people violating elementary rules of marketing. One is that you don't want to alienate potential purchasers with unrelated or counter-productive remarks; secondly, the seller left the field wide-open for offers so when he received one that he felt was less than his expected intersection of buyer seller amounts he attempted to justify a higher amount by introducing data from a remote market. Thus from his actions I infer one or both of the following: the seller has little experience or knowledge of salesmanship, and/or he was hoping that by not mentioning what his acceptable bid was, he might get someone to bid even higher. In either case, I decline to do business with someone that displays these behaviors. I suspect there are others that also decline to enter into transactions with such sellers but rather than address the issues, just pass on making a bid.

No ball busting intended. I'm British and I do genuinely have America cousins. (3 + a couple by 1st remove or some such). And I like the USA and American's generally :A Thumbs Up:

We are one big family. The queen and I have the same grandparents about 10-11 generations back. So does George Washington. Surely made for interesting dinner conversation circa 1776. :)

I don't need a chill pill as I am not the one that is worked-up about the advertisement. I would appreciate it if you addressed my two options for your behavior. I suspect option two is the primary reason you declined to state an acceptable offer.

@Ray B its his advert, his play-pen. Within the constraints of the forum rules, the seller can advertise in any way he sees fit. If you extend an offer then you have a stake in the discussion as an invested party. I made an offer, it was rejected, I wished the forum member well. I didn't see an offer from you. If he changed his ad, are you saying you'll make him an offer that exceeds mine? That would be a reasonable statement to make. Come with money in hand if you have an issue to raise. My $0.02.

Ray, my apologies for offense caused. Not sure who else offended as they haven't posted yet but in the spirit of playing nice I will summarise response to your questions best I can

    1) I'm not really sure what the scope is worth hence testing the market with an open advert
    2) It was merely a typo, not meant to alienate. I apologized, the 2 parties (Myself and Rookhawk) moved on. To reiterate rookhawk, apologies for any offense caused
    3) I explained why I didn't want to accept the offer in the spirit of being open and not wanting to leave Rookhawk "mystified" about what he thought was a reasonable wasn't accepted.
    4) This is not data from a remote market - for the seller it's the local market. However, that market is somewhat small and illiquid hence opening up to AH...
    5) In terms of hoping to get more value for my scope, I believe nothing wrong with that
    6) Markets require a willing buyer and a willing seller. If you decline to "do business" with me, that is absolutely your pergotative
    7) Finally Ray, is there anything else you want to discuss or address? I do hope you are satisfied with my responses as I am rapidly losing the ability to donate an airborne fornication...
