I’m still thinning the herd:
#1 - Ruger 77 Hawkeye 257 Roberts. Excellent condition. Very low shot count (less than 40) LOP 13.5” trigger to butt. Bought on AH recently. Professional gunsmith went through rifle refinished stock with an oil finish, installed a lighter trigger spring (2.5 lb pull) and floated the barrel. Ruger rings. Did not work up a load but it shoots Winchester X 117gr very well. This rifle seems to be fairly ammo picky like most Roberts I’ve shot. I just can’t fall in love with the caliber. $1000 shipped.

#2 - 1978 Ruger 77 red butt tang safety 7x57. Excellent condition other than some slight separation of butt pad and stock. LOP hair over 13”. This rifle shot so well (no throat issue common to these M77 7 Mausers) I sent to RJ Renner in 2024. His work:
Ruger M77 English Stalking Rifle
NECG Masterpiece Banded front sight base
Master piece gold bead insert
NECG Ghost Ring Aperture Rear Sight w/large aperture
Quick Adjust German Toggle Sling
Barrel band sling ring
Vintage finish
Never scoped but hit steel at 100 and 200 like child’s play.
Amazing gun but I failed to tell Mr. Renner I’m 6’3” with gorilla arms. LOP is a little short for me even for a walking rifle. $2500 shipped.

#3 - 1954 Husqvarna 270 Win. I’ve owned this rifle 20 years. Had a beautiful wood stock that began to crack. I sent to Randy’s Custom Rifles in Wyoming. He put it in a Hi-tech brand fiberglass stock, bedded and did his magic. Installed different steel sights that fit the stock comb. Talley steel bases. I told him to change barrel but he said it was still excellent and better than most of today’s barrels. Accurate rifle that shoots cheap blue box 150gr 1 MOA. Shoots Nosler trophy grade accubond 130gr even better. If I had one complaint about the old girl is the bolt release is a little finicky on that Mauser action. $1500. That’s a steal for an all steel fine pointing/handling versatile caliber Mauser action rifle.

FFL to FFL only no exceptions. Personal checks from established members only. If you are in a hurry I’m not your guy. I take my time and do things right. I have lots of 7x57 and 270 Win. ammo.

I’m heavy on medium calibers so I’m thinning out. I would trade +/- cash for the right 375 H&H, maybe 35 Whelen. I have more pictures I can text to anybody serious. I’m working long hours so pictures are indoor and not great. I can get better ones this weekend.

I was just contemplating a RJ Renner gun. I actually just got an Interarms X to ship to him. I then bought something else expensive in the meantime and now need to wait a month.

Are all of those options you listed standard on his "Old African" build? He told me to order the "Complete African Package," and I said gimme what's good. Generally I contemplate everything across 9 million dimensions, but this time decided to put it in his hands.

I think the stalking rifle is different than Old African. Mr. Renner is a craftsman and a gentlemen. He can set you straight!

Better pics and observations:
257 Roberts - I see no dings or scratches. Blueing is great. Trigger is excellent for this caliber.
7x57 - no dents or scratches. Blueing is deep and stunning. Barrel looks large diameter very cool looking. Picture shows only seen flaw at buttpad. Trigger is great.
Husky 270 - in great shape for a 70+ year action. Trigger is good not great. I would call this a working man’s rifle. Made for work not show. You can do anything in North America with it.

This post may break the server. It’s pic heavy.

You're missing out. I have every single one of those except the canvas tent

Please PM any reasonable offers. I’m pretty flexible at this point. Only other trade is a quality 357 Mag.

I am a sucker for the old Huskys and while I am not really looking to trade, I do have a nice FN Browning Hi-Power rifle in 375HH. It was made in 1969 and is the Safari Grade with the plain, straight grin wood of a working rifle and does not have the salted wood that marred some FN's from that era. The rifle hunted big game in Alaska early in its life and accompanied me to Africa on my first Safari. This is a Belgian mfg Browning and currently wears a Swarovski Z6i which would be removed if I agreed to a trade. The stock had the 20 coats of glossy varnish removed and an oil rubbed finish applied to darken what was overly blonde wood. An improvement to my eye. I have had this rifle since 2003 and hunted with it twice. Deer and Blue Wildebeest. It was very effective both times. Includes factory iron sights. A few pics to consider.

Might consider a trade for your Husky and the Old Tang Safety Ruger

An excellent AH member right here! I had a fantastic transaction with Hornedfrogbbq (I was the seller). His communication was first rate, payment was extremely fast, and I would have absolutely no reservations at all dealing with him again. Thank you, F!
Here we are, the last day of the show in Denver, it's been a good show but expecting a quiet day today. I will be back for-sure to do this show next year and maybe also do the one in Sacramento California.

On Monday I will be hitting the road driving from Denver and eventually make it down to Atlanta for the flight home.

its going to be a good year!

Hi Rem280, Saw your post on getting selected for Idaho Elk. Do you have a zone(s) selected? I live in N Idaho, might be able to offer some ideas.

Cheers,

Craig
