I’m still thinning the herd:
#1 - Ruger 77 Hawkeye 257 Roberts. Excellent condition. Very low shot count (less than 40) LOP 13.5” trigger to butt. Bought on AH recently. Professional gunsmith went through rifle refinished stock with an oil finish, installed a lighter trigger spring (2.5 lb pull) and floated the barrel. Ruger rings. Did not work up a load but it shoots Winchester X 117gr very well. This rifle seems to be fairly ammo picky like most Roberts I’ve shot. I just can’t fall in love with the caliber. $1000 shipped.
#2 - 1978 Ruger 77 red butt tang safety 7x57. Excellent condition other than some slight separation of butt pad and stock. LOP hair over 13”. This rifle shot so well (no throat issue common to these M77 7 Mausers) I sent to RJ Renner in 2024. His work:
Ruger M77 English Stalking Rifle
NECG Masterpiece Banded front sight base
Master piece gold bead insert
NECG Ghost Ring Aperture Rear Sight w/large aperture
Quick Adjust German Toggle Sling
Barrel band sling ring
Vintage finish
Never scoped but hit steel at 100 and 200 like child’s play.
Amazing gun but I failed to tell Mr. Renner I’m 6’3” with gorilla arms. LOP is a little short for me even for a walking rifle. $2500 shipped.
#3 - 1954 Husqvarna 270 Win. I’ve owned this rifle 20 years. Had a beautiful wood stock that began to crack. I sent to Randy’s Custom Rifles in Wyoming. He put it in a Hi-tech brand fiberglass stock, bedded and did his magic. Installed different steel sights that fit the stock comb. Talley steel bases. I told him to change barrel but he said it was still excellent and better than most of today’s barrels. Accurate rifle that shoots cheap blue box 150gr 1 MOA. Shoots Nosler trophy grade accubond 130gr even better. If I had one complaint about the old girl is the bolt release is a little finicky on that Mauser action. $1500. That’s a steal for an all steel fine pointing/handling versatile caliber Mauser action rifle.
FFL to FFL only no exceptions. Personal checks from established members only. If you are in a hurry I’m not your guy. I take my time and do things right. I have lots of 7x57 and 270 Win. ammo.
I’m heavy on medium calibers so I’m thinning out. I would trade +/- cash for the right 375 H&H, maybe 35 Whelen. I have more pictures I can text to anybody serious. I’m working long hours so pictures are indoor and not great. I can get better ones this weekend.
