Magazine holds 4 rounds. The rifle weighs in 8lbs, 1oz

Why is it that so many Dakotas sit unfired in safes, before moving to another owner to do the same thing.

Does the spirit of Don Allen haunt people into being scared to use them?

I have seen a lot of NIB Dakotas in a variety of calibers, and some of them are 25 years old and nary a mark on them.

Doesn’t strike me as a plinking cartridge as much as it does a specialized hunting caliber. If that particular hunt doesn’t come to fruition, I see no reason to fire the rifle otherwise. I have a m70 that was unfirwd for 2 years before I sighted it in, has remained unfired since I sighted it in. I have a 7-08 that’s been only been sighted in as well.

Well, I happened across this rifle recently and was starting to plan a 2022 hunt. My plan was to sell my M70 Super Express and keep this. Unfortunately, life says its not quite meant to be for the rifle and most likely the hunt, depending on how the rest of the year goes. I don't "have" to sell it, I'd just rather have a little more liquidity in the next 6 months. Now to the rifle.

Rifle was built in 2001. Unfired I'm told by the original owner and now unfired by me. The bolt face look to back this up but I can't verify 100% so we'll say extremely low round count. Overall the rifle is in 98-99% condition, it did manage to pick up some dings over the last 20 years. You can see most of them in the photos. I'm happy to send pictures of anything I can find to serious parties but everything is minor.
