I'm a little heavy on DG calibers at the moment and need to make some room in the safe so offering a very nice rifle to a new home.

Up for sale is a Dakota 76 African chambered in the classic 416 Rigby. This is a package which includes Talley QD 30mm rings and a Swarovski Z6I EE 1-6x24mm with the CD-I reticle.

The rifle has been lightly used and may have the odd handling mark. Detailed pics are provided to illustrate the condition. There is some bluing wear on the bolt handle and the leading edge of the floorplate. Otherwise bluing is excellent.

In speaking with Parkwest Arms the rifle was made in 2004 and shipped out in Jan of 2005. Rifle is all original, with no modifications. The LOP is 13 and 3/4 inches. Weight of the rifle, with scope is, 11.34 lbs. Add four rounds in the mag and one in the chamber and that will put you at 12 lbs

Assume most here are familiar with the features of these rifles such as CRF, 3 position safety, barrel band, ebony fore-end tip, dual cross bolts with ebony plugs, recoil reducer in the fore-end, 4+1 capacity, etc...so I won't list every feature but happy to go into further detail with any potential buyers.

The scope is a Gen 1 Swarovski Z6 EE that is illuminated. The EE (extended eye relief) model has 4.72 inches of eye relief which makes it ideal for this rifle. The scope tube is clean with no scratches or dents. The glass is also clean, no dings or scratches.

As per my profile I am located in Canada. I can appreciate that some may be a bit wary of buying a rifle cross border so to keep the transaction as simple as possible I will handle the import and all associated import fees.

To summarize, the buyer will pay for the package, selller will arrange and pay for the import including shipping costs. Buyer will provide their FFL to the Importer. Buyer will be responsible for any FFL fees. Once I ship the rifle it will take approximately 4 weeks for the package to arrive at the buyers FFL.

Asking price is $11,500 USD. If you are outside of the lower 48 or in a remote area within Canada, such as Nunavit or Iqualuit, we'll need to discuss how that affects shipping costs.

A cheque is the preferred method of payment. I would also like to have a quick phone call with the buyer to discuss the import process.

While I am new to selling here I have extensive feedback in Canada that I would be happy to share with the buyer.

That is a very fine weapon with the very best optic ever made for a magnum DG gun. And its offered for a very good price in USD.

I'd recommend the seller reach out to Borderview, the very best import/export firm for firearms in Canada. What will make or kill this transaction is uncertainty and hidden fees. Having an export plan for an American will make it go very smoothly. (I've used them and it took a mere 6 weeks to get the firearm in my hands)

Good luck with the sale!

Thanks for the comment rookhawk. I'm in 100% agreement. I've dealt with the fine folk at Borderview several times and all has been very smooth. Have also met them in person several times.

The ad mentions all the import fees are included in the listed price, so the buyer will not have to deal with any hidden fees....again trying to keep it simple.

BV will handle the import and the rifle is already pre-approved for import through the ATF which will speed things along.

Lovely Dakota!

Very nice.

How long, and how difficult is the import process?

Good question. The import process isn't overly complicated. Once the funds clear the package ships to BV's Canadian address. They take possession and bring it across the border. The appropriate paperwork is completed and as per regulation a small import mark is placed on the underside of the barrel, in front of the fore-end. This import mark varies by importer. Some are long, BV's is "BV, Lynden, WA" which I find to be fairly consise and short. Once all the paperwork / marking is complete the rifle ships to the buyers FFL.

I chatted with BV recently and completed an import pre-approval to get some of the paperwork out of the way as early as possible. This was approved by the ATF. Following this approval I discussed timelines with BV and they mentioned that the turnaround time is approximately 4 weeks.

This is one of the best DG rifles built...I've owned 2 of them and won't sell the last one. Also the best DG optic ever made. And for all those who said last week on the other (lefty) Dakota 416, if only it was right handed...no more excuses!

I have imported several from Canada using Borderview. Expect 2-4 months to get it and a fee that includes taxes and duties of $1000 plus or minus. Add shipping to your ffl.

Appreciate the feedback but this information is not correct.

The ad has a fair amount of text so maybe some are missing it but it clearly calls out that as the seller i am covering the import fees and shipping. The buyer will pay the price as listed plus any FFL fees. So there are no hidden fees.

As for the timeline I've already mentioned that it has a pre-approval in place. So this will make it faster than you may have experienced in the past.

I have also imported, both ways, several times before. By taking care of the import process I am making this a fairly simple process for the buyer.

Apologies for not seeing all of the info. If you are paying the import fees and the Borderview fees, you are offering a seriouslly good deal.

No worries....as mentioned there's a fair amount of text so its easy to miss some of it.

Its a superb package and all import fees as well as BV fees are included in the listed price so no surprises.

I saw the rifle when it was for sale in a gunshop in Calgary, 5 or s years ago, if that was the same gun. it had beautiful wood and I was very close to replacing my CZ550 with it. It tugs on my heart that the gun will now likely go south.

I just recently bought the same rifle. I was actually considering reckoners at the same time. Even though I went in the other direction he was a Gentleman during and after the entire process.

Thanks migrabill.

Appreciate the comment and glad that you found a rifle that works well for you.

It was also a pleasure chatting with you.

Thanks for all of the input to this thread.

A gentleman has reached out expressing interest to purchase so he is first in line.

We'll work through the details over the weekend.

I'll update the thread again with a comment when things are finalized.

See you are from Denmark - see quite a few Danes where I stalk in Scotland - great hunters.
The Harkilia stuff works well in Africa - I have a bit for use here in UK.
I am again looking for 600 Nitro dies preferably RCBS 1 inch. The set I purchased previously are 1 1/2 inch and do not fit my die. Another member has graciously taken them off my hands. If anyone happens to have a set of 600 Nitro Dies that will fit my Rockchucker Supreme RCBS press, please shoot me a message and thanks in advance for any assistance you may have to offer!
I have not posted any items for sale on this forum and will not every put anything for sale. My account was hacked and I've worked with the admin to get things shut down.
