First trip to Tanzania. Any Dar Es Salaam hotel recommendations?

Sea Cliff in both 2009 and 2015!! Nice and safe!! Great little store near by to get a few odds and ends. Only bad thing was the heavy, hairy dude in a thong by the pool!!!!!!!!!

Atta boy! I will be in the reserve on Aug 10-21. My focus is on 2 buffalo and also have availability for hippo, wildebeest, hartebeest, waterbuck, zebra, warthog, impala and duiker I believe. How bout you?

Lion, buffalo, hippo and plains game with Game trackers. They mentioned they will book a room for me Sea cliff sure looks nice I will have to ask them if that will work.

I will say I have stayed at both the Sea Cliff and Blue Sapphire and without question the Sea Cliff is an amazing place to stay. The Blue Sapphire was fine for me with a super late arrival into Dar and early morning charter out of terminal 1. With the Sea Cliff being on the Indian Ocean and in a beautiful part of the city it is absolutely wonderful. Cannot speak to downtown Dar and will be interested to hear what others say, but I look forward to my Sea Cliff G&T and stay every year!
+1 Sea Cliff Hotel

The Sea Cliff Hotel has a sister hotel in Zanzibar just outside of Stone Town that is absolutely stunning. If you have an extra couple of days (before/after the hunt) it's worth the trip. It eclipses the Dar es Salam hotel.

Most people fly there but I wanted to experience the ferry. It leaves throughout the day and there are multiple status for tickets. I would purchase the the second or third highest price seats. They also use a seperate building in the terminal and it makes a huge difference in the experience. Fair warning, I was told flying is the best and its really not that expensive.

@Slickshooter What airlines are you flying ? Game trackers is telling me twice last year Qatar changed plans to Oman Air and they refused to take rifles. I have ways flied with Qatar with no issues.

I would be very careful if you fly Qatar as they are constantly changing who operates routes and to your point, if switched to Oman, they will not transport your rifle and you are stuck. Air France has been my personal favorite to Dar with KLM in a short second. Up until this year I had a direct to Paris where I live so I could get to Dar with 1 connection, they recently changed that so I have to shop a bit now.

Folks are down playing how bad the traffic is! it is breath takingly horrendous. If you can catch a charter flight to your preserve, it is well worth the money.

Thanks for the heads up on the ferry as I've read about it existing as well as the sister hotel. We are actually already booked in and staying at a resort in Zanzibar for 5 days post safari.

We are flying into Dar via Qatar as well.

Good to know for the future.

The Sea Cliff Hotel in Zanzibar is absolutely spectacular! This is a picture from my room. Sunsets are postcard perfect and the your wife will appreciate all the amenities. Be sure to take a taxi into Stone Town and visit all the sites, Freddy Mercury house, fantastic coffee houses (Zanzibar Coffee House was my fav), East Africa slave trading museum, market area, and all the wonderful places to eat Seafood. Day trip from the hotel back to Stone Town or participate in all the activities the hotel has to offer. You will enjoy.

Good stuff BigGame! We are staying near Dongwe beach in Zanzibar. The Sea Cliff hotel I was referring to is the one in Dar. All good tho man and that looks like a heck of a spot to spend a few nights

If you have plenty of time an ocean hotel is great. As others mentioned Sea Cliffs is good. There are a number of good hotels up by Mbezi Beach. I have stayed at Sea Breeze a few times. The last time was 2021 and I was disappointed that the beach had tons of washed up trash. Be careful if you don't stay close to the airport. Traffic is bad and if there is a wreck you can be in trouble. I have left the Sea Breeze three plus hours before my flight and missed my flight by three hours. I have stayed at a decent hotel across from the airport and the Blue Sapphire, about a mile east of the airport towards downtown which was fine.

If you have a day or two, definitely go to the beach.

I have been using a "Personal Property" rider on my State Farm homeowner's policy to cover guns when I travel with them.
I have several firearms, but only one is worth over $20K (A Heym double rifle).
Very interested.
Would firearms be covered for damage, as well as, complete loss?
I'll can let the State Farm rider cover my watches...
Behind the scenes of taking that perfect picture.....

trperk1, I bought the Kimber Caprivi 375 back in an earlier post. You attached a target with an impressive three rounds touching 100 yards. I took the 2x10 VX5 off and put a VX6 HD Gen 2 1x6x24 Duplex Firedot on the rifle. It's definitely a shooter curious what loads you used for the group. Loving this rifle so fun to shoot. Africa 2026 Mozambique. Buff and PG. Any info appreciated.
