This is a 338 Winchester Magnum built on one of my own actions that I make from raw material.
Featuring extended upper and lower gangs. 1/2 octagon 1/2 round full length rib cut rifled barrel. I started on the action in May of '18. Been on the tangs and stock since August of '19. Currently working the oil finish, I'll be cutting the checkering soon, then out for full coverage engraving. Enjoy the photos cheers.

WOW !!, dosent even come close.

Beautiful work! Please continue!

absolutely incredible...

Simply beautiful. Although this might qualify as a DIY project, something tells me that rifle building is more than a hobby with you. Care to elaborate?

That is exceptional work. As @Shootist43 suggests, surely this isn’t just a hobby. I currently only know of only three or four custom builders doing bar stock and blank to completed rifle. Just superb.

Red Leg, I just "googled" Stuart Satterlee, suggest you do the same. This guy has been holding out on us!!

After doing a little internet stalking and looking at @Stuart Satterlee website, there are other beautiful works on there. I especially like the double square bridge. Wonderful work!

Not at all Stuart. I suspect this post will generate some interest in your work. Do you do any conversions or are you too busy building Custom rifles from the ground up?

I've done many conversions, primarily on M98 Mausers many different calibers up to the 500 Jeffery. Other conversion work revolves around the Enfield, Springfield and model 70.
The Mausers and Winchesters being the most prolific as far as demand goes. Those are at least 50% of my work.
The other 25% is machine work on new production parts, Mauser safeties, and Satterlee Actions primarily for my in house builds.
Another 25% going to other customers for various reasons, barrel install, duplication, etc.
Kinda runs the gamut, if I can help I do so.

Very impressive work...very tasteful... (y)

Please show us pics of the .500 Jeffery(s) you made..?

I have seen several of your rifles over the years and you do fine work. Thank you for sharing, it is always nice to see such precision.

Stuart, with the resurgence of the 404 Jeffery there has been a lot of AH members looking for someone to convert either a Win. Mod 70 African Express from 375 to a 404 and or one of the RUM caliber Mod. 70(s) to a 404. If you do that conversion and are looking for additional work you might "Post" that fact on AH.

WOW a man with a stock duplicator in his shop! I need to meet you!:)

The duplicator is great tool invaluable as far as I'm concerned. I've made my fair share of stocks from a blank. Time saved can be measured in terms of days. Plus, it's actually fun to run.

Nice work Stuart!

The Black Hills of South Dakota house a lot of top notch gunsmiths, but Stuart is in a class few will ever reach.
