Thought I'd share some pics of my new Encore pistol. Got to shoot it for the first time last night. It'll definitely get your attention, but recoil isn't that bad. It won't be making the trip to RSA, but do plan to use it this year in pursuit of MO and KS whitetails.

I bought the action from a friend and then pieced everything else together.

Stainless frame (non-Prohunter)
Pachmayr Magnum Decelerator grips and fore end
Barrel - T/C (Thompson / Center) Custom Shop 15" stainless with heavy contour
Leupold QD base and rings
Bushnell Elite 3200 2x6-32 scope
Caliber - 338-06.

Thanks for looking.

>>>Heeler that should be a damn good combination for a pistol. I'm thinking it could be a hand full - but with the pachmayer grips it should reduce a lot of the recoil. I never cared for them on T/C's but I love them on revolvers. Having shot a lot of handgun silhouette I shot the encore in 7BR & 308. That caliber should be lights out for damn near anything you will face!!!
... In the regular t/c's my favorite hunting caliber that I used was a 30/30 but I fooled around with a jdj for a while & I wished I would have kept it for hunting, but I got this desire for a Freedom arms revolver & I peddled a lot of merchandise to affords one of them!!

Heck, unless you're maxed out on the number of guns you're taking to Africa, I'd take the Encore with you. Three of us went to RSA last fall for a plains game hunt and we took handguns. A friend took a .454 Casull, and T/C Encore in .30-06. I took a .480 Ruger and T/C Encore in .308. All of my animals except for a greater kudu were taken with the handguns.

Thats a beauty in a terrific caliber.....
PS thats a real nice aoudad you took in your photo....

very nice, I had one in a 358 JDJ......wish I still had it.

I like my encore pistol and barrels. I have 223/257Roberts/308win and 454casull barrels. I would like to get a 6.5X55 barrel also.
I have a 500S&W . Shot it 3 times and the arthritis in my wrists/elbows hurt so bad I just want to sell it. Getting old is the pits.

Amen to that brother, I have a 500 S&W revolver and I have severe arthritis in my right shoulder, and when I fire it and vibrates all the way up my arm to that shoulder, you're right, getting old is the pits.

I am righthanded, so not interested in the rifle, but I have a 375 RUM and 350 gr bullet loading data is very hard to come by. If you could reply with information regarding your loads I would greatly appreciate it. Thank you, Ray Boone, Leavenworth, WA

An excellent AH member right here! I had a fantastic transaction with Hornedfrogbbq (I was the seller). His communication was first rate, payment was extremely fast, and I would have absolutely no reservations at all dealing with him again. Thank you, F!
