My ivory, skin panels and ears just cleared US port. It was faster than I expected and I didn't have all of my ducks in a row for next steps.

I'm looking for ideas on little pedestals to mount the ivory from the floor....places that can tan and thin down ele hide panels...ideas on ele leather products...stateside sources for artistic ideas on ele ear paintings, etc. Anything located in the vicinity of DFW or north TX would be a plus.

Let's see some of your ideas and suggestions. It sounds like a number of us have ivory and ele trophies coming this way soon.

@Rare Breed Not sure what your's is planned to be, but I hope to hunt elephant in 2026 and liked this example.

Awesome thread idea. I’ll be watching. Mine aren’t on the horizon but hopefully someday

Following with interest. I’ve got one coming. And another hunt in a couple weeks.

I made grocery bags with excess giraffe hide. Super simple, very heavy duty, and they make me smile when I use them.

@WAB those are some old eland on the wall. Those hunts must have rivaled the effort of tracking a buffalo.

I always love this photo...how clean the layout is. Can you share more of the room? I like your idea of photos framed by the ele ear. Maybe one ear like that with some of my ele photos and another ear painted with an ele or Big 5 would look good.

Thanks. Here are a couple more.

For pedestals I asked for simple massive cubes of wood, with dimpled caps.

For the feet, like this:

The rest of the skin I do not know for sure yet.
I was thinking of finding a desk similar to @WAB, or an English partner desk and having the top leather insert replaced with my leather.

Another option is having all 8 dining chairs reupholstered.

Also considering having a travel backpack made, as well as some bags for the wife.

Reupholstering is more costly than new custom furniture. Check out Bison Creek Interiors for custom ideas. We just had them make two leather recliners using our Cape buffalo for accents.

Yes I have some panels arriving.

Thanks. One problem in getting it back so quickly is it was shipped before tanning…miscommunication. So I have to sort that out here and don’t know the best answer yet. Also finding someone in the States who paints ele ears is harder than in Africa.

I used American Tanning and Leather for an alligator I hunted. I used the leather for boots/belt/wallet. I have no idea if they’ll tan ele but I did learn for alligator they seem to be the preferred tannery of most boot makers

Thanks, I will check on that idea.

Hi Jon,
I saw your post for the .500 NE cases. Are these all brass or are they nickel plated? Hard for me to tell... sorry.
Thanks,
