Elephant Pictures - The Magnificent SEVEN - Big Tusker Elephants

Buddy, you have to learn my twisted sense of humour.
If I was Elephant hunting and that brute walked by I don't think I would be worrying about a price list!

Holy s#$t, that'a one brilliant elephant!!!! CONGRAT!! Was he taken this year?

Simon - he was shot last October.

Dear All.
I just returned from the Caprivi Namibia where we Bought a Hunt from Karl Stumpfe, Ndumo Safaris and struck out with this magnificent Bull. It is a great area to hunt.

This absolute hammer elephant was a "Kruger" elephant and seen by my PH in the Gonarezou NP .
The former fences to the neighbor countries are all diminished.
Now the game can roam in an unbelievable wide terrain,Park to Park.
Kruger Park /South Africa
Chegwalla Gwalla/Mozambik
Gonarezou /Zimabwe
When the African can protect that,a Graden Eden for the future.
Let's hope.
Here a big one, Congo, short before independence.

Foxi,

I am pretty sure my Father had the book and that I read it, but that was 30, maybe 40 years ago. My guess is that a brother ended up with the book. Hopefully so.

The English version is too expensive for me to justify these days.:(

Glad you have access to it in German.(y)

Interesting thing I just noticed in this photo. There is a grevy's zebra in the background and the photo is dated 1970. I didn't know you could still hunt them into the 70's. The hunt evidently took place in the Northern Frontier District.

Elephant Before Botswana closed....
Communities were promised that hunting blocks would become photographic areas, not 1 has. most of africa is not viable for photographic tours, they need great scenery, teaming herds of game and quite honestly, frequent clear sightings of the iconic species almost daily. 350 000 acres of non stop 15 foot high Mopanai wont work for the photo sector (hunters don't mind tracking on foot for hours)--it never will be viable--so now, because of empty promises vast tracts of land sit unprotected where poaching is now rife and communities have no income, no jobs, no health care, zilch---like was once provided by hunting operators. Common sense must prevail when talking wildlife management and conservation. In Africa conservation is just CONVERSATION when there is no reward in place for communities who live side by side with wildlife. such a pity that the antis won this battle---its backfired!
