Deer Season 2025

Damn, 12 total shots from different distances and directions. Three of them sounded like follow ups.

Uggg, I have a couple of videos of them fighting, trying to get them to upload.

Those two left the field and two flocks of hens came out to feed.

Had a visit from a young fox squirrel

Then some of the hens decided to run off the fox squirrel, don't know what that was about. I've got a short video of that as well if I can upload it

Was able to get a nice doe yesterday with my 35 Whelen. The more things I shoot with this rifle, the more I love it. I’m shooting 200 grain Hornady interlocks, loaded by Choice Ammunition and they’ve been very accurate and devastating on South Georgia deer.

Nothing like seeing the kids carry the baton forward! I know you're proud. Congratulation to him--he seems like a satisfied hunter.

I can’t believe nobody has shot this genetic freak ( guess didn’t want to burn a tag on a freak ) terrible for the herd
7-8 year old 6 , sorry for the bad picture

I'm hunting in NJ. One of the only good things about living in this state is the looooong hunting seasons. We can bowhunt from mid Sept to mid Feb.

I've shot 4 with the bow this season. Muzzleloader starts end of the month.

Part of what drew me to this site was that I want to try longer distance centerfire hunting in PA, so was looking for a rifle for that. I ended up with a LH Weatherby V in .30-06. I figured it's a good compromise round, as I'd like to try for elk next year. I suspect if I like both deer and elk, I'll eventually end up with dedicated rifles for each. Should be arriving next week, and I'm looking forward to setting it up and working up good loads for it.

Playing tag out back with a big eight and bigger ten. Have seen the eight twice and the ten once, but no shot offered. If the wind holds, I may try catching them crossing the river in the morning. Half a dozen fork horns and juvenile sixes and eights posing nearly every morning.

I’ve got a nice 8pt on my camera. Rut is in full swing here. Was hoping to go out tomorrow am, but the winds are predicted to be high. So likely wait til Tuesday.

Woolley, we are in Michigan. Passed two young dork bucks this AM.

We have a different kind of whitetail here in Arizona. Our Grey Ghost of the Desert the Coues deer. I did not draw a tag this year but my 12 year old daughter did and she scored on her first deer last Wednesday after a tough hot hunt with plenty of ups and downs. After multiple close calls and glassing up probably 25-30 bucks over the course of 6 days of hunting, she let the 6.5 creedmoor eat and then learned what it feels like to have to pack meat out on your back.

I have seen a lot of bucks this year bow hunting.
Took this 10 yesterday morning on opening morning of firearms season a little before 8 am.
Tagged out with bucks for the year. Took a nice 8 with my crossbow in early October.
There was a doe walking through where I shot this buck with an 8 chasing her when I went to find him. The rut is going strong here in Missouri right now.

I want to take something with the .348 that belonged to a really good friend. I used my 7mm08
on this buck. He was back in the timber and far enough away I wanted a scope for the shot…

That buck was considerate enough to die at the bottom of a gulley so I only needed to pick him up about 6” to put him on the platform on the back of my Jeep!(y)

There were a lot of 6 pointers in Throckmorton county this year--some of them big bodied and chocolate colored, so not just 6 pointers because they were yearlings.
Fewer does than average, less seen than bucks. Go figure.

Lots of nice deer being taken! Congratulations to all.

Even though archery season has been in since October 15 I haven’t been out yet. Spent most of my time visiting my father. Rifle season comes in this coming Saturday, lots of big tracks in one of the smaller plots I was able to get planted. Going to check the camera soon and see what’s up.

Still pretty full freezers of burger and boudin so I need to take a doe for steaks and roasts and a buck for a variety of sausages.

I got my first buck this year. My first North American big game animal. I started hunting in 2019 when my dad invited me to South Africa. My first big game animal was a Zebra. I've spent the last few years here at home in Idaho trying to learn the ins and outs of hunting while chasing elk, pronghorn, and mule deer. We spotted this guy in the morning and worked the area all day trying to catch him coming out of the brush he'd hunkered down in. Some other hunters walking by loudly busted him out with about 10 minutes of shooting light left.
