Custom CZ BRNO 600 in 35 Whelen AI Good Deal?

@baxterb
As P.O. Ackley pointed out there's relatively few cartridges that give significant improvement over standard cases, they were done to improve case life and improve velocity. In some cases the velocity gains are not worth the hassle.

yup. Which is exactly why they sold the rifles. By the end of load development, fire forming cases, etc etc…they looked at the chrono and said “is that all?!?”

The ones that do work work extremely well like the 250 Savage but that is achieved by loading to higher pressure as well. Others include the 303 Brit, 30-40 Krag 25/35 and 30-30s. Some of this is accomplished by moving the shoulder forward as well, an easy task with rimmed cases. These will give an average of 7% velocity increase, this is worthwhile.
People seem to think if I get a 4% increase in powder capacity they will get a corresponding 4% increase in velocity.
The truth is a 4% increase in powder you only get a 1% increase in velocity. It also takes more powder to achieve the same velocity as the parent case. You only get a velocity increase if you increase pressure.
Ask if all the playing around and expense is worth a 1 percent increase in velocity.
