COVID-19 Coronavirus UPDATES, BANS, CLOSURES, ADVISORY, etc.

After China banning wild animals for food.

As I was shaking my head in disbelief I found this....

Presume that's one of their bear bile farms....people should Google that.....better end as language might get a bit strong ......

It is. I have no frame of reference for it at all.

3 million tests already done? Where do you get that garbage data from? Selling a tests doesn't equal it being used instantly. See this website: https://covidtracking.com/data/
Yesterday when I posted they had recorded 672,449 tests (at 28/3 12:22 ET), now (29/3 10:34) they have recorded 766,761 tests. So that's about 100,000 tests done in a day. At that rate it would take 30 days to do 3 million tests. Are they really only reporting 20% of the number of tests you claim that have been done?

Everyone else is not testing unnecessarily? Why would you test unnecessarily? As you say yourself, it's unnecessary. There are countries who also very aggressively tests. In Germany there are many drive-through test facilities in parking lots. Even people from neighbouring countries drive over to there. In Switzerland they were giving out goodies to stimulate people to get tested. In the US...who knows how much a test will end up costing you, especially if you test positive.

Surely if 3 million tests were taken on 28th as Chago claimed those results should be out by now.
Currently the counter stands at 1,179,589 (4/2 16:09 ET). The US has really ramped up the testing in absolute numbers, but is still behind many other countries.

Interesting video with Dr. Smith. If I understand him correct, the average body mass index of his patients is 30.7, meaning they are obese. Also diabetic/pre diabetic seems to be the other main comorbidities.

If one of the main characteristics of patients with the virus is a high BMI, then the virus may not have as bad an affect on the third world countries as they are having in first world countries. ie: This may be one of the reasons Africa seems to be underrepresented in numbers of cases.

Dr. Smith also seems to confirm the chloroquine/Azithromycin treatment.

You may have to click on the Fox link to get the video with Dr. Smith.

Dr. Stephen Smith on effectiveness of hydroxychloroquine: 'I think this is the beginning of the end of the pandemic'

Ingraham's 'Medicine Cabinet' on effectiveness of hydroxychloroquine, whether diabetes increases COVID-19 risk

Dr. Stephen Smith, founder of The Smith Center for Infectious Diseases and Urban Health, said on “The Ingraham Angle” on Wednesday night that he is optimistic about the use of antimalarial medications and antibiotics to treat COVID-19 patients, calling it “a game-changer.”

“I think this is the beginning of the end of the pandemic. I’m very serious,” Smith, an infectious disease specialist, told host Laura Ingraham.

Currently there is no known cure for the coronavirus pandemic ravaging the globe.

Smith, who is treating 72 COVID-19 patients, said that he has been treating "everybody with hydroxychloroquine and azithromycin [an antibiotic]. We’ve been doing so for a while.”

CORONAVIRUS: WHAT TO KNOW

He pointed out that not a single COVID-19 patient of his that has been on the hydroxychloroquine and azithromycin regimen for five days or more has had to be intubated.

“The chance of that occurring by chance, according to my sons Leon and Hunter who did some stats for me, are .000-something,” he said, adding that “it’s ridiculously low."

Smith explained that “intubation means actually putting a tube down into your trachea and then you’re placed on the ventilator for respiratory support.”

The Food and Drug Administration recently announced an emergency-use authorization for several drugs, including hydroxychloroquine and chloroquine, despite a lack of clear evidence of their effectiveness.

A study published earlier this month by French researchers suggested that COVID-19 patients could be treated with antimalarial medication and antibiotics in the battle against the novel coronavirus.

Smith noted on Wednesday that he thinks his data supports the French study.

“Now you actually have an intra-cohort comparison saying that this regimen works,” he told Ingraham.

Two weeks later you have a Federal Task Force.

DOJ discovered the supplies as part of its COVID-19 Hoarding and Price Gouging Task Force

Feds seize 900,000-plus pieces of PPE from hoarding price gouger, distribute to providers.

".......... .All individuals and companies hoarding any of these critical supplies, or selling them at well above market prices, are hereby warned they should turn them over to local authorities or the federal government now or risk prompt seizure by the federal government."

If the quinine drugs work with malaria, could there be a connection between the sickle cell and resistance to the China virus?
I wonder if anyone is investigating this.

The logistics of bringing your trophies back is being done.

OTTAWA -- Manufacturing giant 3M says the White House has requested it cease exports of U.S. made N95 face masks to Canada.

"The Administration also requested that 3M cease exporting respirators that we currently manufacture in the United States to the Canadian and Latin American markets. There are, however, significant humanitarian implications of ceasing respirator supplies to healthcare workers in Canada and Latin America, where we are a critical supplier of respirators," 3M said in a statement released Friday.

The statement comes hours after U.S. President Donald Trump invoked the Defense Production Act requiring companies to prioritize the production of masks and ventilators to fight the spread of COVID-19.

"We anticipate issuing more orders under the Defense Protection Act in the very near future, in addition to the one that I just signed against 3M for face masks," said Trump on Thursday evening.

But 3M warns that ceasing those exports could cause blowback.

"Ceasing all export of respirators produced in the United States would likely cause other countries to retaliate and do the same, as some have already done. If that were to occur, the net number of respirators being made available to the United States would actually decrease. That is the opposite of what we and the Administration, on behalf of the American people, both seek."

3M in response said it continues to "act on reports of price gouging and unauthorized reselling related to 3M respirators. This activity is unethical and illegal. We are working with the U.S. Attorney General and attorneys general of every state, making it clear that 3M has not and will not raise prices for respirators and offering our assistance in the fight."

Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has said that, while Canada and the U.S. are working closely on sharing best practices and ensuring health-care workers on either side of the border get the supplies they need, there are no plans to enforce a bilateral trade agreement on personal protective equipment.

The prime minister’s inner circle, including Deputy Prime Minster Chrystia Freeland has strongly opposed the White House proposal to put U.S. military along the border to mitigate the international spread.

Cuomo and the lady in Michigan are like kids in the candy store. Taking everything and anything whether they need it or not.
The word "ethical" isn't in their vocabulary.

Well....that's not cool. Need to share at least some with our northern brothers.

Not cool at all.

The depth of the short sightedness............

What's next: Canadian government banning Canadian Health Care workers from crossing the border into the US daily to help in US hospitals.

I don't get Trump. On one hand he's condemning 3M and on the other hand he does exactly what he's criticizing them for.

Transcript from April 2 news conference.
Donald Trump: (01:13:51)
And by the way, we’ve cut them out also to be honest. We’ve stopped orders going from certain places and… In a couple of places we had a big order going to Italy on important outfits and some ventilators and it was going to Italy. They made the order a long time ago and I said, “You got to let it go.” They’ve had an order and I could have cut it under the act. I could have cut it. I said, “Nope, can’t do that. You’ve got to let it go.” They have big problems. We had an order going to Spain and I said, “Let it go.” I could have stopped it. I said, “Let it go. We’re going to be fine.” I said, “Let it go.” So it works that way also.

Is it a fair comparison or not. I don't know.
20 Million in NY State and 37.5 Million Canada Population

142,000 Sq KM vs 9.9 Million Sq KM. area. We don't really use all that space. We are packed into southern Canada.

Maybe we are just used to all that space and know what 2 Metres apart looks like.
