I bought a pair of these at SCI this year and used them on my trip to RSA this year. All I can say is wow, what a great pair of boots. I started wearing them to work about a week or so before we left to get them broke in. I know breaking in boots is always wise for any boot, but it's particularly important with these Courtney's. I can tell you that my feet were feeling it after the first day and to an extent after the second day. But the more they broke in the greater they felt. And without question, these boots are the quietest boots I've ever worn. I can't wait to use these for this year's elk bowhunt.

What I would not use these boots for? High country mountain hunting, not a lot of ankle support that you really need on such a hunt. Extremely cold weather, there's no insulation. Appropriate socks on a somewhat cold day and I think they're fine, but not in the severe cold. Extremely wet conditions would not likely be good with these either. But the boot wasn't really designed for these conditions, so not really a criticism.

They are expensive, no doubt there. But if you're planning a buff or ele hunt, having such a quiet and comfortable boot makes it easily worth it IMO.

+1

I usually wear Courtney's or TAG's (I think TAG discontinued their boot line this year. I bought a pair at DSC for 1/2 price) as my every day shoe through out the colder months. Also hunt in them at home when it is not real cold or wet.

This time of year, been in sports sandals for the last couple of months. May consider sports sandals for an African hunt if I will be on fairly flat ground.

I'd really like to get a pair as a second set of boots to my Russells at some point.

You just never seem to hear about anyone not liking them.

Courtney's are probably the best hunting boots ever invented. I have been using them for years and would not even attempt to try a different boot.

I have a pair, however they do not have arch support... While nice i like my Russell's.

Both are great shoes.

I shall be getting a pair soon. Do they need to be broken in?? I'm sure I could do this while in the garden!

No they don't, you just got to get use to walking in them...

Whichever the process is "breaking in" or "getting use to walking in them", after 3 days of wearing them to the office I was good to go. The more I wore them hunting though the better they kept feeling at the end of the day.

I wouldn't buy them and start hunting with them the next day.

A few days in the garden should work fine.

I just got a pair of Courtney Vellies form Westley Richards - on sale. Out of the box comfortable. I wore them for 8 hours the first day, and no issues at all (which never happens). These are seriously comfortable - hold firm around the ankle but plenty of room for the toes. I think I have a new pair of travel shoes.

I wear mine all the time now. I might even take to wearing them with a suit!

I'm going to have to look at these the way you guys keep talking about them!

@CAustin @reedy0312 Trust me chaps I've worn many pairs of boots and covered some distance. If I knew of Courtney boots when I was in the forces I would have had a pair for ops etc.

I must add I have the Safari boots rather than the Selous

Seriously worth a try.
I always where mine with gators (kamasta)

Hey guys I know I’m a bit late here. But have some Courtney questions. I recently got a pair of safaris and am really impressed with the boot. The only issue is there is not much padding in the tongue. And the lacing eyelets really dig into the top of my foot, a few miles in that’s not so great. If anyone has ran into this problem before with Courtney’s and found a solution I’m open to your advice, Thanks.

I’m pretty accustomed to wearing boots and have worn a few pairs out. But these seem a bit different.

I would be interested in it if you pass. Please send me the info on the gun shop if you do not buy it. I have the needed ammo and brass.
