Community Designed AH Hunting Knife

I think it’s perfect. It looks like a man’s working knife. No bling, all business. Congrats.

I prefer the steel to brass.

That’s a beautiful knife, and I’ll definitely be in for one! Passed your pictures around and mostly got the same responses as Russ16 and Betterinthebush above. Brass could look nice and elevate the fanciness of the knife, but that steel guard looks good has a working man’s aesthetic.

What do I think? Take my money. How do I order? The more customization options the better.

Oh...can I have No 5.?

That is an awesome looking knife.

Looks really good!

Beautiful work. Can’t wait to order

Nice looking blade. The blued steel guard seems appropriate. Where the brass would look ok but not sure about a tarted up pretty knife:A Bulb:

I think I'm ready to order! I hope you get plenty of orders, #18 would be my choice if we can pick.

I’d be happy with #13 if we have options

Thanks everyone for the overwhelming feedback!:D

So, will keep the blued steel then.

For those who want to order, here's how its going to work: my website is currently being completely rebuilt and should be good to go by end of next week. In the meantime, I'm going to start work on a batch of 20 to begin.

If you have a preference for a serial number, send me a PM and call it. If its taken already, I will let you know.

When the website goes live, I will advise everyone and then payments and purchases will be handled directly from there.

In the meantime, I will keep posting pics of build progress and stuff here on this thread.

If you like the knife, but want to change something about it (steel type, wood type, etc) then you are welcome to reach out to me, but, for the general batch, the details are once again as follows:

Steel: L4528 stainless steel
Full tang construction with slotted mild steel (cold blued) guard
Handle: Rhodesian teak (baikiae plurajuga) with stainless pins and lanyard tube
Sheath: comes as standard with a Kydex sheath. There will be an option for a leather sheath at $50 extra.
Serialized number (AH-01 through AH-20), AH logo and Untamed logo engraved on blade
All of the above for $395 including shipping (buyer to sort import/customs duty only)

If anyone has any other questions, just shout :D

I’ll take one. Leather sheath. No serial number on mine please. I hate all the low serial number nonsense. What, where, when and how to order?
Thanks. Will post up when my website is live, probably late next week. Will also keep posting up pics and info here, so simply stay tuned to this thread

I sent you a PM. I would like serial number 8. I love the look of that handle - I hope mine has wood as nice as that one. And if you can, I WOULD like Migrabill somewhere on mine.

I will purchase two. Any serial number not taken in the first 20 would be OK with me on that first one. I would love to have my initials, LB on that one. The second one is for a gift, so if it is not in the first 20, whatever the second batch of serial numbers is will be OK with me, and no other initials or requests on that second one.

Thank you so much!!! The knife is beautifully done. It will be a joy. Laura

I'm in. PM sent.

Got the test cut blank back from laser cutting today. This is going to be AH-01!

It’s already in the kiln for heat treating

Awesome! I’ll have no troubles opening up fresh cans of Copenhagen in camp or the on bakkie now!

Keen space-saving idea for safari travelers:

Buy a knife in country before you leave and have it waiting on you in camp.
Also, when the Mrs asked what did you buy before you leave, you don’t have to explain “another knife”…. She’ll never expect it to be in country :ROFLMAO:

With that kind of thinking.....
Only if we could do guns that way.:ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:

if you can, please post pics of #8 along the way. I plan on printing them out and keeping them with the knife.

Can do! If anyone else wants to keep an eye on their build it will all be here

Look honey, I came back with the trophy I wanted and a 450 double
The old trick is to leave for Africa with an empty gun case and bring it back loaded.

The wifes generally don’t “buy things”. They go to the mall and “find them”. “Honey, look what I found at the mall today”.
It would be awesome if we could do the same and “find a double” in Africa.

I’m in. Leather sheath. No serial number and no handle. Initials JLS would be cool.
Brass hand guard if possible but no biggie.

Getting it done slowly. Somehow the second time around is when I learn the most, so this one is to make sure I got this down for this design

Heat treat, grinding and hand sanding done. Now onto the guard and handle

Guard on and soldered.

Teak wood blanks cut out and flattened

And then glue up done, shaping done and now ready for hand sanding the handle and final polish

Saw your post. Nice. Denver too. Genesee area (just off 70) if ever up this way. Alternatively, do you have a membership at GGC? Whatever, you'll have a wonderful time in Africa. Enjoy.
