Community Designed AH Hunting Knife

Hi everyone. Just an update, unfortunately our website is taking longer to go live than we anticipated, so what we are doing is sending individual payment links to all those who booked one of the AH knives via direct message.

If you haven't yet reached out to me via PM, please do so as soon as you can.

Update on the batch.

All rough grinding done, now convexing the edges, as well as hand sanding some already

Thanks for the in depth info.

I’ve used synthetics, especially fond of micarta. I even have had great success in making my own micarta. The knife below is using my own stuff

On the wood front, all of our local hardwoods make great handles, but I’m especially fond of tambotie and Rhodesian teak, both of which were used for railway sleepers

Jerome has given us permission to, so using the AH logo is good to go!

Thank you sir. Would definitely be within that figure.
Having bought one of your knives, I like the wooden handles. I think a darker wood will wear look nicer in the long run, especially if used as intended. For me the kydex is just not especially nice in appearance. I understand the that it durable and easy to look after. I would swap mine for a nice leather one, even better if it had a small loop for a little steel. Keep up the great work.

These knives are beautiful. I have two knives (not the AH member edition) currently being made by Ross that I'll share with the group when they're done. I love Ross' work!

And now some leatherwork in the evening. Gotta keep it going

3am here. Couldn’t sleep so got up and dyed these 2 sheaths

Love the patina on those sheaths.
Thank you for noticing! Its one of the hardest things to do, get a nicely dyed sheath with a bit of character

Is the sheath wet fitting done after the sheath is dyed?

If the knife has to stay in the sheath until the leather dries out, how is the steel/ wood protected from moisture related issues? I was always wondering about it.

Funny you should ask. Usually I wet form first, wait for the sheath to dry, then dye it. But I recently got some really awesome new dyes that are a big step up from what I used to use. So on these I dyed first, then wet formed. Worked really well.

As for protecting the knife, usually a couple wraps of clingfilm (saran wrap) with some insulation tape around the knife whilst wet forming. The reality is that I dont leave the knife in the sheath for extended periods. I put it in, form it, pull it out. Then every 10 or so minutes whilst its drying I put the knife in and out until the knife is dry.

I want the knife to be nice and tight to start off, so I actually want the leather to shrink a little bit past the knife. That's why I take the knife in and out. Makes sure the sheath is formed to fit, but that fit is tight enough that you can shake the sheath upside down and the knife wont fall out.

It feels like time for more pics!

I should note that your YouTube content is very enjoyable to watch. Well done stuff.

Ok ok ok.... Im trying my best here!

For anyone sitting on the fence about this knife or any other purchases from @UNTAMED KNIVES let me provide my feedback. I recently carried one of these knives back from Zim for another member here. I coukdnt help but take a closer look (i.e., fondle it) and these knives are really exceptional. They are razor sharp, feel great in hand and the quality of the work on them is phenomenal. I likely won't ever own one of these because I abuse knives and chuck them into drawers. However, for those of you who understand the quality in a good blade and actually use a knife like this for its intended purpose, dont hesitate to take a hard look at these. They are really quite something to see and hold.

Andrew, I commented that your on 375 H&H for sale was the fair price.

Like I commented, my classic stainless has the original 24” barrel.

Did you buy yours with the barrel already cut down to 21” or did you do it (or a gunsmith)?

You might have edited your post on the PH in the Bubye. I know the PH and is a wonderful person and a fmaily man and runs a succesful business in Zim and just doesn't want the attention that the internet offers, the ugly kind.
