Not to mention a buttload of pressure!St
Steel case. They say it can be reloaded once or twice but I really don't have any faith in it. There's also the issue of rust. Just not something I want.

Now I'm hesitant to say Waidmannsheil to you, lolPlease don’t ban me from the forum, but I irrationally hate metric cartridges.
If its name is ## x ##, it drives me nuts. It’s not a fkn bolt, it’s a cartridge, give it a name it deserves.
I would never own a 7x57, but a 275 Rigby is fine by me.
Excellent humor, thanks for that, I enjoyed it.OK, after 21 pages I totally have this all figured out: your favorite cartridges psychologically emulate your preference in a wife/girlfriend. Some of you like the "Waif" thing--you shoot the Creedmore (that, or you're gay and can't handle recoil), some of you like an all around American girl--you shoot the '06 class cartridges (if you are European, then some equal variant like the 8X57), some of you dated girls who stuffed Kleenex in their bras--you shoot the Ackley improved, some of you like voluptuous curves--you shoot Weatherby Venturi obsessed cartridges, some of you really like the all out Pamela Anderson T/A thing--you shoot the magnums. A very few can handle the alpha female, world class boner-maker--you shoot the ultra-magnums. Anyone who would shoot the 50 BMG would probably date a Norwegian olympic hammer thrower were she available. Some of you, through no fault of your own made a choice that turned out short and dumpy but lovable--you chose the WSSM. Anyone choosing a super fast variant like the Von Hoffe Express is a premature ejaculator. Those choosing old obsolete rounds are themselves past breeding age, like an old Dagga boy if you will. I may have missed a few? If so, feel free to chime in...
Otherwise, prove me wrong, or help me move this over to On a Lighter Note....
I'm an All-American girl type, totally. Glad to pass that test. I remember is sex education class in HS that a girl stood up after class and stated that boys who masturbated started growing hair on their palms. Almost every boy immediately jerked his hand up to inspect. If I shot a Von Hoffe, I would never admit it on a public forum, lol. Did date a girl once who almost sold me on an Ackley Improved...Excellent humor, thanks for that, I enjoyed it.
Which cartridges are your rifles chambered in ?
In other words, where do you fit into any of your above categories ?
Evidently I’m mostly but not entirely, in the “prefers the all American girl category”. lol
Not disagreeing with your well delivered via humor point at all.
Just curious.

It's a JOKE. No resemblance to reality whatsoever ....just trying to be outrageous.Speak for yourself, Steve White.
What I've found, those who decry Wildcat Ctgs. usually lack the intestinal fortitude to operate one.
I was going to say intelligence, but that would have been nasty.
I would if I could but I do not know how furthermore, computers hate me.I'm an All-American girl type, totally. Glad to pass that test. I would shoot a magnum, but a man's got to know his limitations.
Velo Dog, could you move my post over to the humor thread, I don't know how.
I understand your thinking. The problem with wanting to go with.many of the classic cartridges is that you can't find a rifle that's chambered in them. I'll give you an example. 15 or 20 years ago I decided that I needed a light rifle in SS and synthetic as western Washington was too hard on my "nice" rifles in walnut and blued steel. Now try to buy a new 7x57 or 6.5x55 in any configuration. They just aren't out there. I bought a 7-08 and like it, but if I could have gotten a 7x57 you can bet I would have one.Fellow Rifle Enthusiasts.
I’m with those who don’t hate any particular cartridge/s.
However lately, there seems to be an endless supply of puzzling if not somewhat annoying cartridges.
Annoying because the companies making such ones often totally stop making ammunition for tried and true cartridges in order to flood retailers shelves with their latest cartridge designs that often as not, merely duplicate the ones they suddenly quit making.
Here is a short list of examples:
6.5 Creedmoor vs 6.5x55 .
7MM-08 vs 7x57.
.375 Ruger vs .375 H&H.
.416 Ruger vs .416 Remington / .416 Rigby.
There are others and all of them are annoying.
I don’t hate the following category of
cartridges either but, “wildcats” make zero sense to me.
I cannot think of any wildcat cartridge that is actually needed these days, at least not for anything myself or anyone I know has ever participated in, hunting or otherwise.
That said, perhaps the .280 Ackley has a valid niche in ultra-light “sheep rifles”.
Also, it seems like I have read that it is not really a wildcat, as it is now reportedly available in factory ammunition, however not exactly found in every sporting goods store and country gas station from sea to shining sea.
If I were young and spry enough to hunt mountain sheep, maybe (maybe) I’d have a dedicated sheep rifle chambered in that cartridge.
However maybe not, because I suspect I could do well enough with a similar rifle chambered in the standard .280 Remington, .30-06 or .270 Winchester.
(Incidentally, I am not suggesting that .280 Remington ammunition is super common these days).
Commonly available live ammunition is supremely more important to me than a relatively few extra feet per second.
Speaking of some relatively few (in the big picture of things) extra feet per second and live ammunition availability, I have even seen an untra-light “sheep rifle” chambered in 7MM Remington Magnum.
On that notion, if a Hunter cannot consistently hit vital sized targets at wild sheep hunting distance, from field positions with the regular .280, or the boring old .30-06, .270 Winchester, etc., they don’t need an Ackley designed cartridge, they just need to practice more.
There is nothing in any of the world’s ultra velocity cartridges that interests me except the .220 Swift for shooting ground squirrels at long range.
But I no longer own one because for the past 40+ something years, I have lived where our local ground squirrels are not a problem to anyone (Alaska).
Again “hate” is the wrong word for myself regarding extremely high velocity cartridges.
The word “boring” fits better with how I perceive ultra high velocity cartridges (other than the mentioned .220 Swift from my long ago Soviet California ground squirrel control efforts).
I’ll be quiet for a spell now.
In the event that I think of any other related drivel to submit, I can add it later …. or not, whatever.
Cheers,
Velo Dog out.
No, the ultra-mags are for the 5'5" guy with short man syndrome. And always with massive freaking muzzle brakes.Excellent humor, thanks for that, I enjoyed it.

I have this configuration in 243 Win and mated it with a load I worked up using the Barnes 80 gr TTSX. It is one of my favorite rifles and 1/2 MOA with my load out of the box. I think for the money, these Tikka's are the best value on the market.![]()
Hahahaha. I also see no need for 25 auto (weak) or 380 ACP (we have 9mm). But I like 32 ACP. If only we could carry pistols here in Canada. Would love to have one in my pocket or holster.Welp, 60 or 80 cartridges in, at least, I have found 2 so far that won't be allowed to reside here, the 300RUM & 338RUM, even though a borrowed 338RUM hammered a collared elk the year we got snowed in & had to hire a snowcat to retrieve our gear. That is the only rifle that's given me a headache shooting it. Oh, better make it 5, as the 25 Auto, 32 Auto and 380ACP are also not allowed in the house (what idiot thought those were a good idea?!? Most anemic pistol cartridges ever! Even a 22LR is a better round to carry)
I'm still looking for others that I might not like. According to Cartridges of the World, I might not live long enough to find them all...
Hell, even if we could still buy and transfer pistols here in Canada. I inherited a pistol from my grandfather he brought home from WWII. Now, its not even possible to pass on to my children as an heirloom.Hahahaha. I also see no need for 25 auto (weak) or 380 ACP (we have 9mm). But I like 32 ACP.
