The real question to ask is, will they require their bodyguard detail to follow this law? If they are not going to impose these rules on themselves why are they better than us? This is the question I don't see many asking. It is more of the rules do not apply to me, superior mentality.

How do we fix all this mess, get involved. I am guilty of not being involved. I can work 16-18 hour days and still read for an hour or two on here or other places. Yet I don't make the time to get involved with politics until it is time to vote. Like many people deadlines have to be met, have missed all kinds of things for work. Make time for that, yet don't get involved with politics that will help insure our Freedoms.

Coming to this realization, caused me to sit back and evaluate what I can do. Youngest son is 9, some of his friends come over and see some of his animals on the wall (Not a big collection, definitely not bad for a 9yo 2-8s and a bison). The ones the express interest I'll take to them about what the think about hunting and if they would like to try it. Most do, I'll talk to their parents and feel them out. So far it has always been a go, so during hunting season we will take them out to bag a deer. Before we get to that point we work on gun safety, gun manipulation, shot place, practice once all that has been gone through. Once they are successful, they not only get to enjoy the fruits of their labor. They have a new respect for a gun and the damage it can do. If we don't who will? I reading an article the other day that stated 2/3 of American households do not own guns. Another article was talking about the rapid decline in hunting license sales. When the baby boomer generation is no more, it is going to be a very scary time in the US if we don't start changing our mind set. Our education system is not what it was, hell for that matter nothing is what it was. We have allowed a lot of this to happen under our watch. How do we fix at the end of the day? I don't know we have allowed politicians to much power.

Today February 3, 2023. Canadian Feederal Gov't repeals ammemdments to their firearms act regarding long guns and shotguns. They received a large and growing pushback from the firearms community. Maybe a start to the end of this insanity that they were trying to sneak through.

OTTAWA -
The federal Liberals have withdrawn an amendment to their gun bill aimed at enshrining a definition of banned assault-style firearms, citing "legitimate concerns" about the need for more consultation on the measure.

Opposition MPs and some firearm advocates applauded the move, while a prominent gun-control group called it a victory for misinformation about the now-pulled amendment.

On behalf of the government, Liberal MP Taleeb Noormohamed asked for and received unanimous consent to withdraw the amendment to Bill C-21 at the House of Commons public safety committee Friday.

"More consultation." Just what we need.

Wow Canada freezing handgun imports, purchase, and transfers.
Watch out USA!
Limit on magazine capacity too in rifles w a max of 5 cartridges
@Dr Ray
Watching TV this morning and Australian govt is going to introduce a NATIONAL GUN REGISTER to keep track of all us evil gun owning people and what guns are out there. This is because of the police officers that got shot in QLD.
All this will do is cost a shit load of money and accomplish nothing.
It's about as useful as an ashtray on a motorbike at 60mph.
Another knee jerk reaction by incompetent politicians that can't tell shit from clay.

Yeah…

As you can probably guess the most recent mass shooting in the USA is constantly on the news here in Australia. Why ? I’m not sure…. Australia is not the USA. Anyway..it’s all over the media and as a result many people…most of whom have no idea about firearms nor the firearm laws in various jurisdictions all have an opinion. That option, for many of the clueless, in many instances is that the USA should ban “assault weapons” and or “high powered weapons”. I had a decision with one such person this morning. They thought that Australia had the best gun laws in the world and that they could see no reason for Americans to own assault weapons, and that all other weapons should be licensed and tightly regulated. I then asked them what the gun laws were in the USA and Australia? "Arh….no idea really” would best describe their response. So I then asked them “if all American gun owners were vetted and licensed should they then be able to own non-military style firearms ? The summarised response…” if they properly vetted and the guns are only sporting style then and securely stored then yes”. I then asked them if they had heard that the Canadian PM is now seeking to ban the sale/transfer of handguns and that that would effectively end private ownership of handguns within Canada. Handguns registered to licensed law abiding firearm owners. Their response….”arh…no one needs a pistol “… I then asked them if they could see why so many Americans are very cautious about so called “gun control?” ….give an inch and a mile is taken…..I was wasting my time.

Anyway…I have no idea how, within my lifetime, firearm control/prohibition has become an agenda of media and of the political classes. And, I have no idea as to what has happened within society for some people to commit such horrendous acts of violence on the most innocent within the community.

Is there a solution ? stuffed if I know.

NSW Police allegedly warned QPol of the potential risk from the Train conspirators; ignored, and two fine officers and a civilian sacrificed?

Even the daughter of the shooters had more sympathy for the victims than her family. It was an insightful interview with her. She doesn't know what set them off but said in that day 6 families lives were shattered that should never have happened.
Sometimes tragedy is unavoidable but you don't go to work expecting NOT to go home.

Now Northern Territory police want a limit on ammo.
Other states will soon follow.
Terrific! I suppose the police will go around counting ammo??
Would have thought the police would do better catching criminals.

And engage with people, not argue , on hunting and why its important
Here is a pic drawn by a kid that visits us every year with his dad

Re: Australia; Queensland in paticular, Weapons licensing is presently taking months to process licenses; what happens when ANOTHER bureaucra(p)cy comes into the picture? Further delays. Plus, discussions are running about psych assessments for license holders; will your doctor cooperate?

Sadly, the police catch 'em, and Anastacia's pets in the courts let them go free
