Not to worry , the seller ghosted when I asked for his FFL gunsmith to bore scope the barrel and inspect the action, so I will move on with my present project a NIB M70 .270 that needs a trigger job and pillar bed job

You would be surprised.
Clean up the metal work and repolish, re- stamp the serial No, then blue. My gunsmith would do that for around $300 AUD.
New stock, bell and Carson carbon fibre or HS precision and you have a beautiful pre 64 chinwester

I have not talked to Russ Le Maitre of Canberra in a couple years. We were good friends. Not sure if he is still in the trade or not.
