CAMEROON: Faro Safaris Hunting Block 18 Cameroon

.

What a great hunt Russ ! Congratulations and that certainly makes up for the fewer game animals in Tanzi on your other hunt! Thanks for sharing, looks like it was a super trip. Cheers, Charlie

Thanks Charlie! It was a fun hunt... highly recommended! Hope you and your family are doing well. Off to South Africa soon?

.

Russ all very well thanks ! UK with Alex after CWD and muntjac with a friend in two weeks, then roe in UK in May and RSA June. Pronghorn in CO early October with Anja (our second hunt in the US!) and then chasing old old sika stags in UK in October. Taking a party of 6 to RSA for driven springbok in July - same a last year. Big Africa trip 30 days plus on the cards for next year! Keep well and enjoy Bots ! I`m guessing Tholo ? Cheers

Waidmannsheil! Great adventure and trophies!

I don't even know anyone with a Roan on their wall--congrats!
Are you going to do taxidermy on it--it's beautiful?

Absolutely! It would be a shame IMO to take a trophy as royal as a roan and not have it mounted!

Very cool. Roan is quickly rising to the top of my "still gotta do that" hunts. I imagine I'd like Cameroon immensely for the variety of terrain and game. Not sure a LDE is in my future.... but I could perhaps be convinced. ;)

Congrats one a very successful safari! Thanks for sharing your report and photos!

Congratulations, Russ! Really wonderful hunt with great old animals. You chose well in going with the Vannier’s.
Who did you hunt with Dan... recall it was a year or so ago. I remember you had an issue with CamAir?

I had an interesting flight. Everything was on time BUT as we were dropping down to land and almost touching down, the pilot suddenly accelerated and began a steep climb! I looked back at a hunter from Montana I had chit chatted with in the airport and he was white as a ghost. The locals were mostly unimpressed. No announcement from the pilot. We made a 10 minute loop then dropped down again and landed. In the meantime I got right with my Maker!

On the ground after meeting up with Frank he chuckled and asked if we had any "excitement" on the way in. He said Ngouanderie has a short runway and newer pilots often underestimate when they need to have wheels down! I'll remember that flight for awhile!

Russ, I hunted with Alan Vincent, whom I do most of my hunting with. He had about a 12-year long relationship bringing his hunters to Mayo Oldiri for LDE hunts. He’s not hunting Cameroon at this time as he now focuses this time of year on his family. His son is 10 and Alan doesn’t like being away from his family as much as he was doing. So now he mostly does some Zim hunts in spring and then heads to The Selous in June, not to return home until mid-November. He offers some good elephant hunts in February-April in Zim.
