meaning DO NOT TRAVEL TO. US State Dept. I just saw a story where 14 people were killed in a church in the eastern part of the country, so went to the SD to see about it and now Level 4.

Several of us had short listed BF for our safari plans. Down the tubes completely for now.

Sad, I was really hoping to hunt there. The PH I was corresponding with there has moved his operation to Benin. It’s no garden spot but probably still ok for

Benin is having its issues too. Atacora had to suspend its operations.

A friend of mine opened and ran a gold mine in Benin for 10 years or so. Every time he got ten pounds of gold he put it in a carry on and flew to NYC or London to sell it. I can’t believe he got out of there with his hide intact. I’ve spent a lot of time in Togo. West Africa is a tough part of the world.

Really? I just him advertising on another website. When did he suspend his operation there?

I actually had some reach out to me saying they might open hunting in BF next year and I thought that was beyond wishful thinking.

I don't think that many of them actually reside there, but rather come in for safari season,, then leave.

Just sad, I like a few others were hoping to hunt there. Possibly Benin in the near future but who knows how long that will last...

We know there have been more than a few attacks into Benin for the past year or so. Camps burned, tourist kidnapped etc. I know several of us here were thinking of Benin as an alternate to BF, but it borders it so trouble is not far away. At this time I would not consider either as safe. However our state dept has Benin at level 1 with the caution about going to the hunting areas, which is where we would be.

It’s very recent. I understood they will focus on Congo next year, possibly offering forest buffalo safaris, not only bongos.

It seems they just contacted their signed clients about it. I saw some posts on the topic on FB. It’s a shame, my father has been there and their zone is beautiful.
I saw their operations in the Congo and it’s great too.

Yeah I saw the hunting areas were Level 4, made me a bit nervous. But didn't hear about the camps being burned. Damn Shame.

I used to travel to some pretty rough places, never thought twice about it, but a wife and three little kids changed my attitude. I really wanted to hunt there and/or Benin, but I'm not sure that is realistic for me at this point.

I have hunted with Atacora and Christophe in Benin, and it is a shame to see their operation suspended. It is a wonderful area and I would love to return, but unfortunately it borders Burkina Faso, and the border is pretty much undefended. As a result, if there is trouble in Burkina Faso, it's reasonable to expect some that trouble would spill over into border regions, including Benin.

Right , the hunting areas in Burkina Faso are no longer accessible for an indefinite period and the whole country only very limited accessible. Benin is on the border of an extremely dangerous areas so that it also cannot be better on this side.

In the meantime there are hundreds of deaths after various actions by terrorists , bandits and after inter-ethnic conflicts between Peuls and other. Even at the border of Ghana you are no longer safe.

I would stay away from the Sahel area altogether.
