sorry to say but it is not the pictures that are only bad. That work is not even avg. in quality. Cant wait to see what dennis has to say about that work.
They being done in botswana or you had them shipped to SA to be mounted.

Dennis is bright enough to know what he is looking at and classy and professional enough to let his own work speak for itself.

After TWO + YEARS they are finally being mounted in RSA.
There are still two trophies in transit 2.5 years later!!!

sorry to say but it is not the pictures that are only bad. That work is not even avg. in quality.

Can't blame the taxidermist for what showed up.
He did not cape them, salt them or cause the delays.

Honestly man, the mounts are not finished and the photography is not doing the mounts any justice.

These mounts of yours by Relive are looking a little rough too.
Did it change much by the time they were finished? Of course it did. :)

The product I received from M&$@£¥a was crap at best. The backskins and rugs they did were piss poor and most of the backskins are starting to fall apart and not fit for ulpolstry and pillows. The dip and pack were OK and my taxidermist here in the states did a good job with them.I would personally love to hunt with Jason again but could not afford for my trophies to be handled by the only D & P game in town. We won't talk about them loosing a 24" impala skull and substituting a small piece of crap (personally saw my Conroe Taxidermy tag ty-rapped to the correct skull at Kanana). Jason let me shoot a replacement last year at no cost and was going to replace my zebra as well but the striped donkeys would not cooperate. After paying to have the rug done in Botswana it was in such bad shape I paid again to have it redone and painted here in the U.S. You would think after losing 70% of their business from the elephant hunting ban they would be in shape to turn out a better product.....go figure. Sure not a fan of the big "M" taxidermy in Botswana.

OUCH!

My taxidermy was shipped to RSA because I knew their work.
You just reinforced my decision ten fold.

Funny thing you say that.....
Seems to be a lot more Euros this last time and a lot more selective about trophies over all.

They are hit and miss, received my waterbuck Euro that had only one horn when shot and they reattached the horn that another hunt team found several days later. The found horn was split and faded from the sun and the repair was first class! Received a jackel skull this year that looked like an elephant sat on it, the pieces were in a plastic bag. My blue wildebeest rug was beautiful when first received but since has started to flake and is showing white spots. The hides must be subbed out to differant tanneries since between myself and my hunting partner we've had mixed results. Their crating, shipping, dip and pack are good but looks like the tanneries don't neutralize the acid process and there is stitching everywhere from poor fleshing techniques. Good luck on your shipments. Here are before and after of the waterbuck.

I decided to comment to Johannes, my taxidermist in RSA, that I wanted a new cape on the Springbok and he should remount it.

The reply I got was spot on:

He suggested replacing ALL of the Springbok capes for the group and a further Gemsbok cape for one of the group.
Then the question:
"If you are not sentimental about the Cape on the Kudu I would like to replace it".

Of course my reply was, "Do it!" I want the best result.

So apparently, he will be getting lots of practice on my mounts.

He has now been given instructions to replace anything that is not going to create the best result.

Garbage in Garbage out! Apparently, it is not only computers this applies to.

Wayne, Can you confirm those horns on the mount of the springbok and the ones in the picture you provided are the same? They look different. The ones on the mount are uneven and do not point at each other like the live pictures do...............

Good observation.
No I can't really. No personal markings and this actually could be a different SB picture.
I'll have to compare them with the other skull mount.
My only thought at this point is that the horns are not "in place" and have only been slid onto the cores at that point.
If not, it will just be another surprise.

I just got an email from the taxidermist in RSA.

New Springbok cape and Kudu Cape have arrived and are prepared to get everything remounted.

The magic of pictures and the internet for quality control.

Dennis provided some excellent feedback about watching the skinners do the job and making sure it is done right the first time. Another lesson learned.

I was also informed that my last two items to be shipped from Botswana have not arrived, but apparently are on their way still as of January 11, 2015.

Sorry it has taken so long. This whole thing has to be frustrating. Watching the skinners do their job is an option but it can take away from hunting/eating/sleeping/etc.

Just got stuff from Botswana this week. Eleven months after hunt. Tried to bring them back across the border with us but all of Botswana's vets were in Gaborone for a meeting. Gerrit @Bos en Dal Safaris drove back the next week to get them. Thanks Gerrit.

Mule deer and Colorado elk seasons almost done! Hunters driving farm roads, looking for racks, their PH driving them along, I ask that you not pull into my drive. The buck behind me, on the boundary line of the GMU somehow knows. The hunter laughs, I would invite you in to see my Searcy rifles but social distancing prevails, darkness arrives and the buck slides away into secret tree grove...
