Best tasting plains game

I am the guy who has only been once so not the most experienced.

We had something different grilled for 7 days and the Eland liver takes first place for me.

It really is good ! It’s a meat & beer stew that originated from the Dutch Boers. I was first introduced to it during my safari to Kenya in 1974. Unfortunately, it appears to have lost favor amongst younger generations of gourmands.
I’m willing to try something new, could this work with any game bird in Africa? Including Francolin and Sandgrouse?

Yip! 100%

Guineafowl potjie especially is a very popular dish among the local wing shooters.
Francolin are delicious, Sandgrouse and whole roasted quails are sublime.

Eland is not only the finest tasting plains game, it is one of the best meats I’ve ever tasted. Eland filets cooked over a charcoal fire with garlic butter….or bone marrow butter if the cook knows how! You can have the rest!
What he said!

I’m just reading all of the new comments now. I’ve seen a few eland hunting videos and those things are giants. I’ve known about the bird hunting there and how good it is. I looked up some pictures on to see what potjie looked like. It reminds me of cooking small game in the crock pot. Africa sounds promising, and Namibia sounds like a great place to start this journey. Maybe one day, in the future I can make the trip. But for now, I’ll keep dreaming and learn all I can.

Kudu and Sable.

My next one....

I’ve just had Sable filet twice here in Zim and it was near the top of best game meat for me!

Echoing many before me--- eland, hartebeest, and zebra. Zebra being my favorite.

On my first hunt in Africa, zebra proved almost comically elusive. At the end of every day, Chef would meet us at the truck to see if we had taken a zebra yet. Upon finally bringing one in, he said, "Now...now you are in for a treat."

He was absolutely correct!

Very excited to try Eland and zebra in a few weeks! As mentioned, Eland is apparently very good. I did not get a chance to eat any last trip over, but everything else was great. Impala, Blesbok, gemsbok, kudu, it was all great. We had bushpig ribs one night that were amazing.

zebra and eland was tops but bushbuck , kudu , sable were all good.

See you are from Denmark - see quite a few Danes where I stalk in Scotland - great hunters.
The Harkilia stuff works well in Africa - I have a bit for use here in UK.
I am again looking for 600 Nitro dies preferably RCBS 1 inch. The set I purchased previously are 1 1/2 inch and do not fit my die. Another member has graciously taken them off my hands. If anyone happens to have a set of 600 Nitro Dies that will fit my Rockchucker Supreme RCBS press, please shoot me a message and thanks in advance for any assistance you may have to offer!
I have not posted any items for sale on this forum and will not every put anything for sale. My account was hacked and I've worked with the admin to get things shut down.
