5.11, Kuiu and Sitka clothing.
Redwing wool socks.
Kenetrek and Danner boots.
Badlands pack
Ricky Young bino harness
Von Gruff knife
Slogan rifle sling
Nikon Black RangeX 4k laser rangefinder
Mathews Switchback XT compound bow

I just upgraded from a Leupold to a Leica scope on one of my rifles and WOW, quite an improvement.
I dont know why Leica are less popular than Swaro, they are fantastic scopes.

I’m going to add David Page, Cobbler, of Seattle. A while back I had a pair of Danners that I ripped a bob off the sole. Danner themselves said that they could not repair them and that that model was not meant to be repaired/resoled.

I called David - he said bring them in. I did. He shook his head at Danners comment, went upstairs and came down with a pair of the exact soles. I picked the boots up a week later and they are still going strong - this was 14 years ago.

ive heard of similar stories several times since then. Highly recommend him if you need boot/shoe work.

Can you get a Rick Young’s harness in NZ? I emailed him direct and he does not have a distributor here and the post ex the US adds quickly.

I like my Von Gruff knife, Courteney boots, Dingo leather cartridge holder, RM Williams clothes and KANGAROO skin boots, Akubra Cattleman hat and my little Pumba in the avatar.
I have an agent in the US so I can get anything that is available there sent to me.

So many people don’t put enough thought into socks! Smart wool socks are my goto for hiking and hunting!

I like Osprey backpacks, but they aren’t really quiet for hunting (I have a badlands pack for hunting). I love them for travel or keeping at the blind or in the truck. Wear them hiking a lot.

Duluth trading underwear!
Darned tough socks are great as well a little thinner

What do you like better about this harness compared to others? I may purchase one

There's a whole lot to like about it..

Its very affordable.. incredibly versatile (most versatile harness I am aware of).. Rick is actually a great guy from what I can tell running a small business (I love the idea of supporting a small business run by great people.... Ive met him and spent a few minutes chatting with him at several shows/conventions.. always been very pleasant to talk to, and clearly very passionate about his product), its lightweight, durable (I've taken mine to Alaska, Africa, and into the woods in the US countless times.. Its still "like new")...

If you plan on using it with large/heavy binos like 10x50's, there are probably better options out there.. but for typical 10x42's or smaller.. I seriously havent found anything better out there.. its just a great piece of kit..

My favorite hunting gear:

Vortex Razor HD 10X binoculars, Leupold, Leica and Zeiss rifle scopes, Winchester M-70 hunting rifle in .375 Mag., Tikka 595 in .260 Rem., Winchester M-70 in .25-06 Ackley.
Beretta 686 Silver Pigeon 20 ga. O/U shotgun, Winchester M-23 SxS 20 ga. shotgun, Benelli M2 12 ga. shotgun.
Mathews No-Cam 70 lb. bow, Slick Trick 100 gr. Magnum broadheads.
Pumill custom skinning knife and Benchmark folding knives.
I have tried and used many brands of hunting boots, but keep coming back to Danner, which always fit me best.

A few things that haven't been mentioned:
  • Meindl "Alaskan Hunter" boots
    • They hardly needed breaking in
  • Garmin handheld GPS
    • I have an old Colorado model
  • Vero Vellini Double Sling
    • I absolutely love this thing - you have both hands free when getting in and out of your hunting spot

I dont know why Leica are less popular than Swaro, they are fantastic scopes.
I’m not sure they are promoted as well as Swarovski in Australia. I do see a lot of serious hunters here using them.
I did like the PH Leica RF Binos
I think Swarovski produce lightweight scopes when comparing similar magnifications across brands and models.

I just thought it would be good for regular use and short hunts where a bingo pack is not required. It can be slung on the body several ways and holds the binocular to the body being an elastic Bungee cord or Shock cord.
The carry options can be seen on the website and you tube I think. It’s a simple design in effect but looks functional and effective.

I’m going to purchase one and give it a try. It got several recommendations here and for $25 I have nothing to lose. I carry 10x30 binoculars so it should work well I hope.

@CBH Australia Bob Young posts to Australia. Quick and easy. Sure posting to NZ would be no issue.

International post is always a bit pricey, but the harness plus post will still be less than one of those wretched trusses that are so popular. Get a couple to defray the post. He also has some other useful knick knacks.

Hi Bob, how's things going in Wyong?. Down your way a couple of years back but haven't been in NSW since Ebor for the fishing. just getting over some nasty storms up here in Qld, seeing the sun for the first time in a few days. I'm going to NZ in the spring and hope to clean up a few buns while there and perhaps shake the spiders out of my old .303LE (currently owned by my BIL). Cheers Brian

Heard you may have load data for the 500 Jeffery,.....any info would be appreciated. Was thinking 535gr, but already had a response that the 570gr would be a better way to go, not sure why.
