Hi guys
I was at scheels yesterday and noticed scheels had there exclusive Bergera b-14 west river carbon 300 wm for 1200 very good price! One does anyone have experience with this rifle and feedback?
I got stuck looking at the Weatherby 307 alpine also in 300 wm and I really liked the feel of that one. Does anyone have feedback on that rifle and would u snag it or the bergara or snag the alpine in 7mm backcountry instead. This is for an out west mountain hunt coming up
Thanks

I have no experience with either, but the 7MM Backcountry is a deal breaker for me. The 300 is proven, isn't going anywhere, everyone makes it, and you can buy it at any ammo store.

One of my buddy’s I elk hunt with used a Weatherby 307 Alpine last year on our trip. His was in 6.5PRC. He ended up tagging out with his bow and loaned the 307 to another of our buddies who had a tag and he smoked a great 6x6 bull with it a little over 300 yards away having never even shot the rifle.

The rifle shot great, I shot it during the summer prior to our trip it was extremely accurate for a production rifle. I was very impressed with it. I think the 307 in 300wm would be an excellent choice. I can’t speak on the Bergara but I will say if I was choosing between the two my choice would 1000% be the Weatherby.

Edit: I personally chose 7PRC on my last rifle build and would choose it again ten times over vs the 7BC. I understand the 7BC and what it’s intended to do and it seems to do it well. I just personally have zero interest in that cartridge.

I have the Bergara West River. Absolute workhorse of a gun. I trust it to hit where it should more than any other gun I own. It’s actually in my profile pic on AH.

I have two Bergara Premier rifles, and am not terribly impressed with either. Certainly not bad rifles, but nothing even close to the hype. My friend has one of the nicer 307 models, and he’s very happy with it. Anyway, just a couple of data points.

before you buy a 307 got to the Weatherby 307 owners forum and read about a lot of issues the owners face right out of the box, I have like WB for years but would not touch a 307

Well the 7mm BC is here to stay, my 307 is accurate and very smooth, i have 20 inch barrel, it shoots the 155 Terminal ascent at 3,158 feet per second average over 40 rounds! I have the Banish Backcountry suppressor and the recoil is so negligible you can see the impact. I dont know what there is not to like.

Good luck and happy hunting

Terminal Ascent is a great bullet.

I have a $900 Bergara 7mm. It’s almost as accurate is my Gunwerks out to 500. Stock cheap, barrel is heavy and trigger inconsistent but boy does it shoot!

Very heavy barrel, especially with a suppressor. I replaced my trigger with a Timney.
