Hi guys I am looking for a belt cartridge holder for .470 rounds.

I have seen one with two rounds and a space and two rounds and a week. This is specifically for a double so you only grab two rounds at a time easily.

does anyone know where you can order/get these?

Jumbo, a good friend of mine in Sth Carolina has high quality custom made slides, in 5 and 10 cartridges, made from Elephant and Cape Buffalo leather.

They are hand-made of extreme high quality, with enough space between cartridges so that you can slip three spread fingers over them to pluck two out at a time.

Well thought-out, and well made.

I have had several for three years or so, mine get covered in blood and dust and crap each season and I simply oil them at the end of my season and they come up like new.

They are closed loop so that they don't fall out the bottom and the quality of the leather restricts them from stretching, so the shells never drop out even if you're running.

I can't remember how much he sells them for but know he sells for them for the production cost with no mark-up.

If you are interested in one of these let me know at; ssahuntinfo@optusnet.com.au and i'll give you his contact details.

Try Trader Keith, good price and good quality products. I ordered two rifle slings from him in the past and I'm very satisfied.

Thanks. I found a case that is exactly what I need. It was in the back of my mind (since I have about 6 months till my hunt) but this thread reminded me to deal with it sooner than later, so double thanks.

My pleasure brother,

PS: I don't work for Keith nor do I own any shares in his business. Lol I'm just a satisfied customer.

Thanks PaulT and bellero,

both sound like good options. Must say I looked at the Traderkeith option and really like the flap over holder with spaced rounds in prs.

If I cant find similar locally in the next few weeks i think that may be my option.

I also saw a very cool one on the Holland and Holland site, but its not covered and being H&H seems quite expensive. But worth a look if you are in the market.

I have been recommended to try Jroberts gunmakers of UK by a member, also a nice option. (Thanks SpikeT)

The option I am now looking into locally is a company called Jackal & Hyde, who make custom leather stuff in Lusaka, so I will see what they say before deciding whether to order or commission a local one.

thanks for the info an options guys

Jumbo,
I'm sure that the folks at Jackal and Hyde will make something for you if you send them pictures and explain what it is you are looking for specifically.
Otherwise, Spike put me onto uttings.co.uk try them out too.

Hey Pete,

Jackal and Hyde are making one up for me as we speak..................still have no idea what it will cost, but it will hold 6 x 470 rounds with spaces between every pair (to make for easy extraction) and will be short enough to fit onto a belt and between loops on my shorts!

the way I see it when I have fired 8x shots I must learn to outrun it, or hopefully the PH will have gotten involved!!! LOL

Sounds good, I'm sure they will make something good.

And you're right... if 8 rounds aren't enough, start running!!

I will let you know how it turns out!

Contact Rob at http://www.simplyrugged.com/, he will custom make anything you like, and he won't break the bank. He uses top quality leather, and does have exotic leather available.

Ok, so the Jackal and Hide holder is great, but with the 2 x configuration, pulling 2 rounds at a time was proving tricky. The holder held one of the two rounds tight when I tried to pull them out.

After a bit of thought, I tried baby powder! Jackpot!

Now the two rounds both extract nicely and yet the rounds are held nice and firmly.

Another use for baby powder!!! I've also used it to stop leather from creaking on a belt and holster. Good stuff. :)

Don't stop running until you get back to the shooting range. You need more practice.

Does the baby powder get sticky when it gets wet? Just wondering if a dunking or sweating would cause issues.

Came across this website the other day
www.elsfineleather.co.za
register on their website and you will get an email with a listing of their products, not a huge range of products, but they look pretty good!

Just a follow-up on PeteG's post. Ivan has a new website and you can order his products online now. Check out his cartridge holders for double rifles!
