Belgium Brings Back A Gun Making Legend

My 2ct's... Would be nice to see longer barrels, 23" barrels on those big actions will make the gun "Look" to stubby and longer barrels will balance nicer between the hands and swing easier

Still strange, because the phone numbers are in France. The headquarters of the Armurerie Elysées are in Paris. Dumoulin has never before manufactured a DR caliber 600 Nitro Express, let alone one caliber 700 Nitro Express. This has nothing to do with the classic style of this former company. I don't know who the owner is, but it reminds me somewhat of the story of Rigby.
Any possibility that production has been moved to France, then ?

@Hunter-Habib, if this rifle were immediately available, would it be your choice to complete your Big 5?

I think it would be a superb choice.

@skydiver386

Hands down ! Nothing like bagging my black rhinoceros with a pair of 900Gr Wim Degol tombac jacketed round nosed FMJ solids at 1985 FPS fired from a Dumoulin Arms sidelock ejector .600 Nitro Express double rifle.

L'Armurerie Elysées in Paris markets these rifles. Who built them is another matter. Perhaps they are still being manufactured in Herstal, but ultimately it will be as complex as it is for Rigby nowadays, with many other companies involved. Nevertheless, these can be rifles of very high quality.

"Ready to Bespoke" Stock is nearly complete. That's hilarious. Good luck to them selling a new $250K double, stocked for someone else. Guess they decided the 23" was a bit short.
Hey, wait a minute. Something’s not right.

They say the Dumoulin factory is in France. Not Belgium.

And the barrel flats carry British proof marks ???

@grand veneur is right. Something fishy is going on here.

Something strange is going on indeed.
I, and so have @Frederik and @DieJager I believe, have held that specific rifle in our hands. But in a Belgian gun shop, made by undisclosed Belgian artisans, and not at 250k€ either.

@VertigoBE

Were you able to get a picture of the proof marks on the rifle ? The one which “Dumoulin Arms” shows on their website had BRITISH proof marks on the barrel flats. That’s what started to get me suspicious.

I did not. In fact I was just happy to be able to hold it

Yes indeed, now I notice. That is strange. Fishy.

After holding that gun I instantly was cured of my fantasies to ever own one :ROFLMAO: . I'm no small guy but that is just way too heavy.

I don't believe there is anything mysterious, let alone illegal, behind all this. There were several gunsmiths named Dumoulin in Herstal, no problem to re-use the name. The rifles are possibly partly manufactured in Belgium, perhaps also partly in GB, which would explain the British proof marks, and marketed internationally via Armurerie Elysées / Paris in France. A lot is in the hands of big international companies nowadays, like L&O Holding, for example, which also owns Blaser, Mauser, and Rigby, among others.

Pretty much the course for a lot of the classic British rifles - made elsewhere, work done in England, name goes on, price goes up :D

I don’t think anyone made the claim this was illegal. It is just weird to see “relaunch of a famed Belgian gunmaker”, with contact info in France, and proof stamps from England.
